Closing Note

For now, we are quite happy with the art we have by Timo Kyyrö, although soon as we come up with the concept, it might change.

Description

We're looking for promotional poster art for the PROJECT WORM -production. We're looking for something that states the fact that this is a TV-series on Internet crime - meaning, it's has a technological vibe to it, has some reference to the Internet, and looks cool as hell.

The name is PROJECT WORM, and I'd like to have the name to be a core of the poster art.

Make it big. Doesn't have to be a poster-size, but big enough to be used on the Internet in various sizes.

Earth/Internet/Skull

Here's my idea of the poster. I thought that it's a global thing so I put the Earth there. You wanted a reference to the internet so there's the map of the internet. Of course the skull is there too cause everyone loves a skull. I wanted to include the same font that's already up there cause it looks cool but didn't find it.

Other idea was to have a worm wrap itself around the earth and the internet. Maybe I'll do that next or something. What do you guys think?

Excellent work!

Cool poster. I like it. It gives horror movie like of hint and the font gives a bit of flashback from somewhere seventies.

Timo Kyyrö May 08, 2009 17:15 Flag

Roger that.

Peter Vesterbacka May 08, 2009 16:49 Flag

Looks good, I think this is good enough for now, let's see how the script evolves and how it all fits. Thanks for making this!

Timo Kyyrö May 08, 2009 13:05 Flag

Thanks. This was just a sketch so give me feedback on that thing and it will get better.

Timo Vuorensola May 08, 2009 12:44 Flag

Not half bad, actually!

Let's use that for now!

Etheri Kakulia May 08, 2009 12:06 Flag

This is awesome! I love the idea and interpretation.
Maybe you really should do something with font, but anyway it looks great!

What about snake?

Snake is a kind of a worm and it's quite nasty one even, so it might suit this topic.
Here's one sketch of that idea (well, I am not a graphics artist, but you'll get the idea)

You should consider, that WORM is only a working title, so it is not sure, wheter the final product will have the same name or not. If, however WORM would be the final name, I would go for a poster with a real worm (for example sth. like that: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d8/MEB_back.png ), rather than a wormlike creature.

minimalistic

Those remixed movie posters, made by Olly Moss are looking extremely cool and have a very minimalistic style, comparable to the "Matrix" poster: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ollym/3290551170/

classic video game cover remixes by the same artist:

Cool - Especially I liked the batman version. Black figure shadowing the world.

What a revelation Johannes!

This Olly is really bad -

This is now photoshopped and closer what I was thinking.
Comments and some direction please.
Maybe ones and zeros could be more visible?

Animation would look cool, it should be faster animation than in Matrix. But taking that step we need some animator, I have no skills for that.

Good thing about this animation is that that 10-photo is actually text file not picture, should be easy to animate.

I like to upper type better, but quite much here in wreckamovie is used this small pictures with projects. Lower shows the project name better in small size.

Peter Vesterbacka April 28, 2009 21:55 Flag

Very cool! Gives a kind of TV like feel to it, I think it would be good to think about what it would look like with a bit of animation, maybe like the Matrix one?

Skull2

I loved that Jussi Vanhanen's skull so much that I visited that "skull a day" site too and found this pretty skull made of clavier buttons.
I don't think that it's better than Jussi's, I still love his shot, but as variation and maybe to bring some new ideas...

:) Ok. I was writing too quick, so didn't notice that wrote something, which could have a little different interpretation. To stop confusing people I'll make an edit:

I loved that PICTURE OF SKULL, which Jussi Vanhanen has post yesterday.

2Jussi. It doesn't mean that YOUR skull is not good, just it's not the object of discussion. :)

Jussi Vanhanen April 28, 2009 12:23 Flag

I know, I have pretty skull =)

What you think of this picture?
It could be cool to make those lines from 1010 lines or just normal letters like in Matrix.

Sorry, some worm made this comment tree times...

Jussi Vanhanen April 28, 2009 07:27 Flag

Yeah that was a sample about the style I was thinking. Colors could be little bit more cyber and we can look for different skulls. I was thinking that lines could be piece of code like Jarmo says.

Original is from skulladay.com, it's printed to picture. There is no copyright issues if we use the idea from that but mash it totally different.

Skull can be jazzed with worms also if needed.

What's the origin of this specific picture, by the way?

Etheri Kakulia April 27, 2009 20:44 Flag

I like the idea. Maybe I would choose other colors, maybe dark blue (or black) and deeper red. To make it more “bloody”... Also maybe would turn the scull front, not completely, just a little.
There is definitely something in those lines (ah, they remind me about worms :)).

Jarmo Puskala April 27, 2009 20:24 Flag

Awesome idea. Also one that could be expanded, maybe include a code to crack at some point...

Or to come to think of it. Maybe the text could be the actual code to a program? Maybe even the code for a actual computer virus...

Peter Vesterbacka April 27, 2009 17:26 Flag

Very cool! Love the idea, that design could be hidden in all kinds of places and objects in the series and we could also create these for the real world and leave them in airports and other public spaces. Great stuff!

Timo Vuorensola April 27, 2009 16:36 Flag

I love the picture very much! Something on those lines, indeed!

the big picture

I would like first to know what is the big story in this, the crime. I think then it would be easier to build concept for the poster. But this is my very beginning in wrecking so I don't know how you have done it in past.

As Jarmo says, the production is in very early stages, but can share that the plan is to have the episodes happening in different countries. Malaysia, Finland, Germany, France, US and some others based on what kind of script we end up with. The idea is to high light global aspect of cyber crime, but also connect that with local events to show that it's not "just" virtual crime, it affects real people in real ways. Might be that we end up with a series of posters, who knows. Hope this helps!

Jarmo Puskala April 27, 2009 11:36 Flag

True, it would make it easier. But think of this as a pre-production poster, doesn't have to match the plot. Just the hopes and dreams of what a series on internet crime could include...
