Synopsis for 'Zach, Alison and Many Others'
Nicole Bryerson, nurse, mid 30s, American, is a mother with a marriage that's falling apart. Her husband, Tony, early 30s, Brazilian, Intl Marketing graduate, is currently unemployed . He tries hard to be a good father.
Zach, 9 years old, has eyes that shine with intelligence and knowing. Though he has been diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder), Zach's real problems are: an absent father, an overworked mother, an impatient teacher with an overcrowded classroom, a sensitivity no one knows how to handle and three doses of Ritalin a day.
Zach's teachers have already defined his future and are threatening to deprive him of free access to education should his mother take him off medication. Watching her child's behavior change and the twinkle in his eyes disappear is enough for Nicole to withdraw Zach off Ritalin. The principal denounces her to child services, claiming parental, educational and medical negligence.
Determined to set the record straight, Nicole sues JFK Elementary School for attempting to take her rights as a parent to make an educated decision on Zach's behalf.
This is the story of a family who is forced to go to court to defend their son's rights. More than that, this is about a family that must find their way back to each other as they deal with all the conflicts that appear in their lives.
