The four books in the Planet of Adventure series by Jack Vance tell the story of Adam Reith's adventures on the planet Tschai orbiting the star Carina 4269, after his space-ship and scout boat are destroyed.
The first book, and subject of this production, is "The City of the Chasch." In this book, scout Adam Reith crashes on Tschai after his space-ship is destroyed. His fellow scout is killed and his scout-boat is captured by the Blue Chasch.
He is injured and nursed back to health by the Emblem people.
He learns the common language of Tschai and liberates Onmale, a youth who leads his tribe because of his emblem, from certain death at the hands of the priests of the Emblem people. Adam's hand-held communicator locates the scout-boat's beacon, and Onmale and he start in that direction. They meet Anacho, a refugee from Dirdir justice who joins them as he has nothing better to do.
After several adventures they arrive at a squalid and primitive human settlement a few miles from the Chasch city. Adam's attempts to retrieve his scout-boat lead him in a full-scale war.
At this time I do not have great computer skills, I do not know how to do computer graphics, I do not have the movie rights to the Tschai books, and I do not have the money to get started. I do have an old computer at home with a failed modem; I do have a sick wife, a father in hospital, a full-time job, and a great deal of enthusiasm for this project.
If you, or any of your friends, would like to take this project and turn it into movies or television series, you have my permission to steal it from me. Just give me the credit on the screen, “Based on the books of Jack Vance and an idea by Glenn E. Fordyce.”
