This symbol crops up over and over in the book. The main character is nearly obsessed with it, and keeps drawing it in papers, painting it as graffiti and so on. But he can't remember what it is.
The book is going to have lots of scenes, where other people make (wrong) guesses about the nature of the symbol. To me it looks like it could be a cup of some sort, or possibly a very badly broken harp. What do you think? Just write in anything that comes to mind!
It kind of looks like a bull or the sign for Taurus.
Depending on what the book is about it could be a reminder of his determination to get something done or a reminder of his or some one else's willpower.
The alchemical symbol for arsenic?there are several symbols for it, but this one was a tad similiar

a tuning fork? with a stand it would be the mother of all tuning forks:-)
It looks like a special key openning the doors to the underworld
I think it always reminds me of a bull, or maybe a symbol of power or something like that.

You might be best off not saying what the symbol is.
All that really matters is the character's obsession with it, the reader or viewer simply has to see this obsession, they don't need to know what drives it.
Kubrick, Hitchcock and others deliberately avoided explanations because they were trying to stir people's emotions rather than serve up facts.
-a guitar hook attached to the wall from the lower part
-a utility for old people for opening cans or screw-bottles
-a wireframe for holding up a collectible doll(from directly above)
-munniharppu (a musical instrument played with the mouth )

I recently gave a talk at junior high in the Finnish city of Kokkola (which is located on the same lattitude as Nuuk, the capital of Greenland). I asked them if they had any ideas, and among the more useful ones were these:
A stoker, the kind you use to move pieces of burning wood in a fireplace. A nice suggestion methinks, very symbolic somehow.
A sword hilt with the blade removed. I can't understand how we missed this one!
