I closed the image gallery task and opened this, because that image gallery was full of silly stuff. Content will be limited in this task, so there will be art. No single 3d renders.

I think we have another Samuli Torssonen in the making... :)

Joel Saarimäki July 28, 2010 15:06 Flag

Lol that would be great XD

Daniel Saarimäki July 25, 2010 15:56 Flag

One thing to notice... When you build composing nodes with Blender, use Difference key instead of Croma key ^^

Daniel Saarimäki July 25, 2010 15:52 Flag

O.O

David Jansson July 25, 2010 15:47 Flag

I got a silly chroma key film Idea I might try when Stick Wreck is done.

Character animation must be the most time consuming thing in CGI. So I have this plan to build marionettes, and shoot them in front of a green/blue screen. I have gotten some directions on how to build them and all. Everything else will be CGI.

Daniel Saarimäki July 25, 2010 09:00 Flag

We are doing a short film with it alreay. See the Galaksin Paskin Keikka here at WAM ^^

Angela R. July 25, 2010 08:22 Flag

Lovely! Really curious to see what you will do with it!

Joel Saarimäki July 25, 2010 07:45 Flag

Looks great!

Looks good!

The colours work well on a white t-shirt, as the main figure is so dark.

Joel Saarimäki June 02, 2010 08:24 Flag

I have a Fail Warrior T-shirt XD

Daniel Saarimäki June 02, 2010 06:11 Flag

Only problem in this is that image. I have also a Blender T-shirt. When I walk with it on the town, almost nobody knows what Blender is. When I walk with this T-shirt, nobody knows what Sample is, but there's still that hughe stickman!

Seppo Hiltunen June 01, 2010 16:37 Flag

I know what that basically means, but I just don't know where the line between "too dominating" and "perfect" goes.

David Jansson April 15, 2010 21:15 Flag

The laptop monitor is beyond fixing with tests like that. It's a four year old flat screen...

Colour balance, or colour composition is a more widely used word, is partly about making sure that one or more colour isn't too dominating or too subdued. If there are elements in the image that feel too prominent you may need to adjust the colour. General composition plays a big part as well of course, and I think your composition is good. But as I suspected the background dominates a bit too much when viewed on my good screen. Try to adjust the colours so you get less contrast. (I don't think you would get a good result if you just adjust the contrast of the image, I think you need to work with the actual colours.)

Daniel Saarimäki April 08, 2010 15:41 Flag

Most of my friends said that the biggest reason are they ears.

"It usually takes me a bunch of tries before I get a decent result." I'm not an artist. I don't even know what "balanced colours" exactly means!

Try to fix your screen with this one:

David Jansson April 08, 2010 11:26 Flag

"And one funny thing more... All my friends have thought, that that dog is a cat!"

Hmm. I think that's a reasonable conclusion. Many of the features you and I know are there are hidden, making it kind of cat-like with the way the flames make the nose look like another shape with the way it highlights and all.

"I'm not so good with colours and everything that has something to do with them..."

I still have trouble with balancing colours. It usually takes me a bunch of tries before I get a decent result.

Daniel Saarimäki April 08, 2010 10:56 Flag

I'm not so good with colours and everything that has something to do with them...

"Why not? :)" I'm going to put a flaming room and that dog to Sample, but not them both in a same scene. I'm going to make a scene, where Sample, assistant and soldier team enter a big room, wich is totally in fire. Then, a flaming mutant (mutant style under remake) jumps out from the flames and attacks. That mutant is actually the other Sample, the first mutant in the lab, who is now invincible and wants to kill the other Sample because he is angry. Sample (that stickman one) and the others escape, but the other Sample returns in the final scenes when the bomb is set and they are getting out.

And one funny thing more... All my friends have thought, that that dog is a cat!

David Jansson April 07, 2010 18:34 Flag

"It has almost nothing to do with Sample." Why not? :)

Nicely composed! But, I am on my laptop, which leads me to believe that you might need to tone down the colour intensity a bit. When it looks great on my laptop that is usually the case, it has a very sucky screen...

I'm a monster hunter!!!!

I tried croma keys (no croma key needed to this one) and green screen (/wall... I have a green wall on my room) tecnics and this is the result :)

My hair looks like sh*t. Don't care about it. Don't even look at the stuff on my wall. They are there because there isn't any better place for them :)

I could easily replace that image with video, but the quality would be even more crappy. I don't have good video cam and and that wall isn't green so more problems would come.

Daniel Saarimäki March 07, 2010 16:01 Flag

I can't shoot you because I'm allready dead :D

That vicious mutant supriced me. I tought it was just a crappy 3D model!!!

So, never mind that comment. I was obviously confused.

Joel Saarimäki February 22, 2010 17:09 Flag

Sorry my bad.

David Jansson February 22, 2010 17:05 Flag

Hey! Don't go calling me competent! That would mean that I have a responsibility to be right, and that's scary!

With that said. I don't perceive a clash. I think it might actually be a gender social conditioning thing. The sharp edges gives that testosterone action film feel to the poster that would otherwise be less pronounced. I also think it works well with the hard highlights on Sample (the stick figure).

Daniel Saarimäki February 22, 2010 17:04 Flag

Joel: Every comment is useful.

Kris: I have had a big mess making that logo and I would not like to edit it just because it don't fit to one poster.

Joel Saarimäki February 22, 2010 16:56 Flag

Jansson knows these things. Listen to him :)

(null) February 21, 2010 16:53 Flag

I don't have a problem with sharp edges, but the rest of the poster is already very curvy, it clashes with the squareness of the logo.

Either everything sharp or everything curvy is what I'm trying to say... :)

I love everything else about the poster except the sharp edges.

David Jansson February 21, 2010 11:04 Flag

Kris: It's more macho with sharp edges. :)

Daniel Saarimäki February 21, 2010 10:57 Flag

I don't think I'm going to change that...

(null) February 21, 2010 00:03 Flag

That's great! This poster has a lot of character. :)

One thing I'd tweak a bit, could the corners of the black box be rounded/curved?
