Design and create posters, ads, DVD covers and other promotional materials like t-shirts, hats, and mugs using original works or work derived from screenshots in the film. You don't necessarily have to have skills in all these areas. Multiple persons could do this or we could go with someone with just some of these skills. The poster here is the first one I came up with. It's simply black and white text. Open to more suggestions.
At this point I can only offer copy and credit in compensation. But that could change if the film is successful.
I did this after a gruelling day, so sorry if it's a BIT gruesome.
It can't be used as an original poster, since i'd have to paint the scull instead of using another guy's painting (the resolution is too low, too).
But i thought i'd just post it for fun and inspiration. N'joy.
Thanks to Tuomas Kaikkonen fo inspiration on the jolly rodger thing.
Here is my latest shot on the poster idea.
I made this example first by hand and then retouching with GIMP on Linux. This is Creative Commons Attribution image, with permission to create derivative works from with.

I suggest making the background image a mix of a Pirate's Jolly Roger flag and the flag of the USA. Goes well with the theme "die" and "a truly american horror".
Also makes you associate health care insurance with piracy (they are just robbing us blind and giving nothing in back!). While the government is turning the blind eye...
... Here is a good explanation of "robbing someone blind":
http://www.answers.com/topic/rob-someone-blind
"Cheat someone in an unusually deceitful or thorough fashion, as in The nurse was robbing the old couple blind. This idiom may allude to robbing a blind beggar, who cannot see that the cup collecting donations is being emptied. [Mid-1900s] "

Thanks, Tuomas. Too bad most of them are very low res and i hate to work with that.. I'll see if i get a brilliant idea with those x-rays..
Maybe i'll find time to paint a skull, scan it for the poster, and then put it on my door with a text: "No spam mail, or you else..."
Jani, there are a few (CC) Attribution and derivative work approved photos of skulls in commons.wikimedia.com , For example:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:SkullFromTheFront.JPG
You could perhaps take that as a base and derive from it.
Another idea that popped to my mind was to make the skull a X-Ray image of a skull, which make the skull to be less associated with death and more with health care. Maybe a visible light image of skull is better though.
Updated the poster with a more grungy font look and a better thermometer.
