Looking to generate a list of zombie types, and possibly add any new ideas or twists to zombies that you can think of.
Please use detail on how zombie behaves or was created, and if it’s from a previous production Movie, TV. Radio, stage, whatever please list title's name year released and type of performance.
Well the types of zombies you're going to create depends on what is the reason for their appeareance. Seeing it's a disease-based contagion system, traditional zombies are the easier and cheaper way to do it in their appearance. It's easy to have bloodshot eyes, bits of flesh missing and death palor.
Regarding movements, slow zombies I think make it boring unless they're in large groups, which adds strain to a budget. And make-up and SPFX will cost you an arm and a leg if you want good quality + long shots. Get them moving fast, like feral creatures. That would put stress on the people fighting them and give you some ideas to play with, like zombies as rats in the giant maze of a city, still intelligent enough to try and break out. Thus threatening to infect the rest of the population. Would probably work well with a District 9 type of shooting.

1 Thumb-up
All I can say is this: traditional, slow zombies. Mostly because that's the kind they've been writing up theories about (like, offical theories. in universities... In Ottawa) and because I'm in love with Max Brook's books.
And if not slow, the challenge should be their number, not their speed and power. Dawn of the Dead had fast zombies and they only ran at the beggining (going into the mall) and at the very end (trying to get to the boat). The rest was strategy. Sure, they all died in the end, but that's because they lost the smart one to the zombies.
From what we're talking so far, story-wise, the point seems to be the spread of the virus, not the survival of the humans. Slow zombies would work perfectly for that.
A new twist on the zombie infections could be that the infection spreads through some kind of sound or visual effect online. That way lots of people could be infected in no time, just like computer viruses are spreading nowadays.
Another twist could be that there's some kind of zombie infection kit that one can order online and that is then peddled on eBay etc.
