Adding New Productions
DescriptionOk, here's a task for adding new productions -functionality. Ideas & feedback is appreciated!
Shots"Ghost" productions if addition is terminated before completionI was just poking around and trying the Add Your Production feature, and didn't finish my submission, but now later when I look at my profile, I'm marked as the creator of the project I was about to submit. I think there needs to be a way to access these ghost or unfinished submissions later on so that people can either complete them or delete them. I am new here, but.......I can see that you plan on opening up your infrastructure to others that would like to start their own production- a great idea. However, I think something in the way of the Karma meter should be used to "grade" the production and the person proposing it. Naturally, if a producer is well organized and really on the ball with dead-lines and the such- the producer should (as well as the production) attract more people wanting-willing to work on that particular project- the only way of knowing this would be something like a "Karma" meter. Additionally, something on how many previous productions have been made should be there too- As a way of verifying the seriousness of the proposal. If this is not what you had in mind by your request, well, um, ...sorry? Gary CommentsI like the idea of a "Karma meter". In fact I just logged in to suggest another type of ranking - based on actual the phase the production is in - but Karma does sound different - more based on the seriousness of the production and team judged subjectively by outsiders. I would make Karma some sort of a general grade of "seriousness" of a production subjectively assessed by visitors. a few more detailed ideas. 1. As I had mentioned before, the use of a "karma" meter or such device to evaluate the person (or team) making the proposal. The point system could simply be based on how many projects were followed through to completion. (regardless of market success.) Of course this system could (and probably would) lead to a kind of elite structure, where someone new making a proposal would find it hard or near impossible to get people interested in their project... So, 2. Peer reviewed project proposals. The proposed project would undergo public review (by the community) for one or two weeks, where everyone would have a chance to vote (or grade) the project. on predetermined points. ex. General feasibility, Plot, Preparedness and things like that. After the public review process, a "Karma" score could be calculated and assigned to the project. I think this would level the field for people who have just joined, who have a really great idea, but are rather unknown. Additionally, if someone has been making "good" movies for some time, but has a crazy idea, which no-one thinks will work, they can carry over their "karma" points to give their pet project a boost. Penalties. 3. "karma" points could be taken away for missed deadlines, abandoned projects, "a lot of" negative feed back or other things the powers that be deem "uncool" Buying "Karma". 4. I am not sure about the legality of this, or if this is even a road you want to go down; but, giving people the option of buying "karma" for their project may be a way of generating funds for costs outside of the "Karma economy" (perhaps devaluing the Euro by half (1€ = .5k ) okay, that was a bit of a joke..... Personal "karma" vs Project "Karma" 5. Members of a project could be given the option of donating their personal "Karma" to the project's "Karma" showing their loyalty and dedication to that project. (this could help control those who join a project, and are given tasks, but have no intention of actually helping or contributing to the project.) So, those are my five ideas with details. I do not think they are perfect as they are and in some ways may actually be difficult to implement. (point 4 in particular) But i do think the first two points could be put in place, with out too much work and would help to show the general seriousness of the project and the likelihood of completion. Gary I think you are right. We should find a way to kinda underline the seriousness and the propability of completion of the project. Any ideas? |

Thanks, Vesa. This is exactly what I was hoping for! :)
I added ability to publish or delete unpublished productions.
Just go to your profile and there you see a list of unpublished productions and link to the "all done"-page for each production.
Yes, but now the problem is that these productions are orphans - even I cannot access these uncompleted submissions I made. I only got on step 2 out of 4 for submitting the production.
The thing is, I think the production, even unpublished ones, should be saved only after the final step is complete. Have a timeout check that if step 4 is not reached within say... 15 minutes, then the "open" submission is purged.
We have to discuss on how we are going to make this. If people have suggestions, we are happy to hear them!
I think it is also unsure how much you can do before publishing the production to the films page. Should you be able to start working with limited group of people?
