Closing Note

The LCARS are made and already used.

Description

For the background on the bridge we need Monitor which will run in the background. The content must be related to the ship and what is arround, but there can be many Easter Eggs on them.

The result can be still or animated. The minium size is 1920x1080 for full size monitors. You can also gdo smaller one for panels along the wall, or small consoles.

I've attached two monitors I got from Samuli as a reference.

Changes: Added more reference material as well as some wire model of the Twisters. We need specially a status display for the ship.

"Maybe you add change some stuff, not make it unique for your project."

Huh? I should change stuff so that it isn't unique? *The sound of Davids Logic circuits go boom*

Thierry Gschwind January 17, 2010 12:23 Flag

Sure you can. Maybe you add change some stuff, not make it unique for your project.

David Jansson January 17, 2010 08:43 Flag

Would it be OK if I use this in my Stick Wreck project?

Peter Vesterbacka August 16, 2009 12:40 Flag

Sounds good to me.

David Jansson August 16, 2009 12:17 Flag

I am thinking of turning that big blue box of numbers to an emergency reroute all ship power to coffee machine button.

What do you think?

Peter Vesterbacka August 15, 2009 20:48 Flag

Great job! Coffee is one of the most important things, really what keeps P-Fleet going, so obviously needs to be monitored carefully.

Thierry Gschwind August 15, 2009 19:21 Flag

That's great. Might do an animated version.

David Jansson August 15, 2009 16:39 Flag

The reason that there is no Water-lvl is not that I forgot it. Real P-fleet officer takes their coffee black.

Ok. I admit. I forgot.

Display useless info in strange units?

e.g. outside air pressure in slug-parsec per square-microfortnight [slug-parsec/FFF^2], hull viscosity (wtf for?) , hull damage in [Dol] (pain), ship velocity in hertz per dioptre [Hz/dpt], smell of garbage chute in [hobo], beauty of crew in [milihelen], etc... (you get the drift)

Helpful links:

Or even estimations of easily verifyable measurements (it's just short of.. it might be around.. I really have no clue, but it has to be at...)

You could refer currency rates to the BMI (BigMac Index) so burger-lovin folks like Pirk can deal with large numbers.

And you absolutely gotta pay homage to popular memes like "it's over 9000!" http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Over_9000

I like. Though, one thing. It would be even more fun, if all the info makes sense and is correct, only it is written in a really roundabout and pointless way so that even the keenest of science nerds thinks it's just ordinary fluffy hollywood scifi technobabble.

Sleepy Time Unconquer-ed Brew

I love the whole 'conquered' classification system...

I wonder if the coffee machine might require a password such as listing the top 10 closest known unconquered systems in order to extract life juice -

More info

I think we need more info for this. (Not to be mistaken for Info.)

"The content must be related to the ship and what is around."

If the content must be related to the ship and what is around the ship we need to know how the ship looks like and what will be around it...

Though I could try to whip up an L-car for the coffee-machine...

For a planet is quite easy, with just change the image for the specific scene. For the text arround, I mean it will be so small, it can't be read, even in HD.

David Jansson August 16, 2009 12:15 Flag

Yeah. But consistency is fun. If it is going to show the planets around you want to to show the same planets that really are around. Not some random planet. I mean, imagine a scene with a spaceship orbiting earth, with all the crew focused on earth, but all the monitors show pictures and data about Pluto, even though Pluto has nothing to do with the scene.

Thierry Gschwind August 15, 2009 19:22 Flag

I mean the monitor must show like a system of the ship, or measuring some kind of stupid value outside. Or giving information about planets and the galaxy.
