Description

I want to make it like a documentary, I need some advice, like what camera to use, what kind of lighting style, I also need some good soundFX, and places to get fake guns. I also need custom OS's, most likley built on Linux. Just a theme for it or something. It's for the world to use so that we don't get sued.

Dead Nation

Just some inspiration in the form of the just announced Dead Nation game trailer by Housemarque:

Airsoft Guns

From some recent research, I know you should be looking for "Airsoft guns". A Google search will turn up hundreds of stores, and the prices are very reasonable depending on what style you are looking for. Stick to "spring" or "mechanical" as these seem to be the cheapest.

I had a link to a store north of Toronto that sold air soft guns, but the website wasn't very complete and I don't know how their prices compare to the online stores. If I can find the link, it might be possible to rent from them.

I've read that this place (http://www.vertexairsoft.com/) ships to Canada, but they don't list prices either.

Here, we can get them at Canadian Tire

That's a great idea, I've seen some amazingly realistic air soft guns just at the local Wal-Mart. It's a little scary.

Music theme

I made this theme for another zombiemovie only to make another theme shortly after. I still like the attached theme and since it isn't used in the other film you can use it if you like. I'm also more than interested in making more music for your film

Custom Linux OS Theme

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think you need to worry about a custom theme. I'm sure you could even use Apple or Window products without worry, but if you stick to a GPL GUI, like GNOME it certainly isn't in the spirit to sue.

I already have one I can use, but I wanted one just because
1) Linux is free
2) I am going to be using Ubuntu Studio (linux) anyway for editing
3) It will look cool, and give it a bigger bugdet feeling, (in many movies, they have their own custom OS.)
I will use EyeOS though.

Camera Choice

I just wanted to add that there is no standard for cameras in documentary filmmaking. The closest you would come to a standard would be what Canadian broadcasters require, as getting Canadian funding grants usually require a Canadian broadcaster to be linked to a project.

That's only for Canadian doc though, and only those funded through public channels. If you have a camera, you can make a doc.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you intend to do any VFX shots, having handheld footage could make it extremely difficult or impossible to track and match the footage. You'll want to have an effects consultant approve any technique if you'll need VFX added later.

You also need a poster...

Why don't you create a task for poster design and ask people to help you with that. Maybe you could use the zombie picture you posted earlier as a placeholder, anything is better than the No Picture Set.
Also, maybe you could create another task for coming up with a name for the movie unless you already have something in mind.
