Description

As we all agree, IRON SKY has the best logline ever. DEAD AGAIN needs a good one too. Give it a shot, the hunt for a new logline starts now.

Here are some of our old loglines:

DEAD AGAIN - He is dying to meet her
DEAD AGAIN - Love never dies. No matter how hard you try.
DEAD AGAIN - You only die twice

the whole idea is of course that Bruno is dead, a ghost, and is in love with Anja who is still alive and well. You can also think about a logline that incorporates the fact that when Bruno comes back to life he has to DIE AGAIN because Anja died in the meantime. Here's a short summary of our movie:

Bruno, age 35, is an animator on the Home Shopping Canal. His rather dull existence has made him a little cynical with the years. After having turned down for the 3rd time the charming Anja, he unexpectedly looses his life and realizes that the afterlife is surprisingly more pleasant than he had ever imagined.
To get a ticket for paradise, the dead have to "pay off" their sins by working as ghosts on Earth: opening and closing automatic sliding-doors, changing the TV-channels when users click, etc.

In the meantime, Anja moves into Bruno's apartment and he slowly starts to fall in love with her. Together with his ghost friend Peter, Bruno tries to come back to life. When he finally succeeds, Anja suddenly dies in his arms, before he has time to announce his love for her. To find Anja again, he will have to die yet again…

Nice! I really like the word play, though it is a bit more creepy that what i imagine will get used eventually.

Faith, I don't know what the legal situation is, but I think it would be a bit weird having a very well-known film title as the tagline (and of course it was originally the title of the bestselling novel by Ian Fleming).

FAITH GRANGER July 15, 2009 01:40 Flag

Mmmm... I see... Although this is the title of the film not the tag line, so as a tag line it is not taken. In fact you could use it even as a title, titles are not copyrightable... the main problem is two films with teh same titles can be confused for one another... Not in thsi case though, I don't think so... Do you think people would be confused and think this film is the james Bond film?

I guess we'll keep thinking of other ideas :)

You only live twice is taken though...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062512/

FAITH GRANGER July 13, 2009 21:39 Flag

I saw that but I think that you only live twice works better. The reason is that the title of the film already states DEAD AGAIN, so the tagline "You only die twice", although clever, seems redundant, however if you twist it by saying you only live twice, it implies dying twice, is a more direct play on word on the usual "you only live once". And furthermore implies that there is life after death...

I suggested "you only die twice"... :-)

DEAD AGAIN: checking out has never been so costly

DEAD AGAIN: Checking out has never been so costly

DEAD AGAIN: Checking out is costly

DEAD AGAIN: Checking out can be costly

I guess I'm playing on words with the fact that "checking out" is a slang for dying but also means payng a bill (which Bruno is presented with when he dies) And also the fact that now he is on the other side and seperated from the girl he loves. Ouch.

i get a real kick out of that one...

Jani Salomaa July 14, 2009 05:42 Flag

Niiiiice! An it can be read in two ways: Love the life after death. Or love that lives after death. Subtle, but significant difference there..

Timo Airisto July 14, 2009 05:16 Flag

I think this is very good - short and to the point. Well done!

You just have to love the John Maynard Keynes quote "In the long run we are all dead". That's what i call deadpan humor! But i dunno if it'll fit this movie.
