I am Looking for more visualization to go with describing my adjusted Wraiths form standard fiction, and for Banshee’s as well. If any of you feel up to the task, I am also looking for a picture or small sample of the transformation into werewolf. With each based on these excerpts from the book.
First Excerpt
“Well I don’t want to spoil the story, but it has Vampires, Wraiths, Banshee’s, Werewolves, and a mist that swallows massive areas whole. Bad things happen when the mist rolls in.”
“What is a Wraith? I’ve heard of the others, isn’t a banshee suppose to be Irish or something?”
“Here on earth I think the banshee was from that part of the world, and it is sort of similar to a wraith. There are some differences from how I understand them in most literature.”
“Like what?”
“I’m getting there, just make your next move”
“Oh! Sorry, there how’s that.”
“Good. Anyways the differences are like this. In most books a banshee’s are female, ghost like entities of varying age. Sometimes thought of as fairies, but they always warn of someone’s impending death. Their wail is usually a song of sorts that tell of who will die. In the world they are set in for this book. They are neither living nor dead, and despite being incorporeal in appearance they can be touched, and interact physically with everything corporeal. Not that you would want to get close enough to touch one. In this world they are mostly a bad omen. This book literally portrays them as bringers of death, not warning of it, but the cause itself.”
“Your move.”
“Huh, oh right”
“ So banshee’s are suppose to be like fairies in our world? That’s not what I always thought.”
“ It’s just fiction. I mean you don’t expect to meet a leprechaun, or have your blood sucked by a vampire?”
“No. I’ve just always been fascinated by mythical creatures, not much for horror stories, so vampires are out, but I have had some interesting dreams that seemed real enough about werewolves, and ghosts. Maybe that’s why I don’t care for the scary stuff. Those where more nightmares than dreams I should say.”
“ I like the scary stuff maybe you could share some of those dreams in a minute if your not to scared?”
“Nah, I woke up scared but it’s just a dream right. So tell me more about these Wraiths what is a wraith.”
“Well, Wraiths are a bit harder to define in our worlds. They have been portrayed as evil spirits, malicious ghosts, and even in an old movie I once saw, as the good guy. In that case the dead boy came back to our world to get revenge on those that killed him, only to help a younger brother become a better man at the same time. In this book Wraiths are always evil. They literally drain your life-force to regain some of their former self.”
“Drain you life-force?”
“In this world as a wraith ages it becomes harder for them to maintain their former shape. At first when a wraith is made, or born as it where, it is a ghostly image of it’s former self, a dog would still look like a ghost dog same body type as it did before it changed, but after a awhile it become like a shadow less defined, unable to hold its former appearance. Like looking at a young kids coloring page when he’s done. The borders are colored past, and not as filled in as it would be if you or I colored the same picture, but when they feed on a living creature, it regains for awhile the ability to take back it’s old shape. The less defined the wraiths shape the more dangerous it is to any living creature. As if it hungered intently to be what it once was.”
“So If it still looks solid it’s safe then?”
“No! They still are very dangerous, and easily provoked to fits of rage. Their Ghost like bodies offer them many abilities from flight, to near invisibility at will.”
“Weird!”
“It’s just a book. The writer must have thought it was cool.”
Second Excerpt
When she touched him, His body shot to its back, and his eyes opened. A blinding flash and the fog enveloped them both.
Blood began to pour from the corners of Lucien’s mouth. He started to growl. His body, convulsing from utter agony. Bones raking through to his flesh, forcing him to wince and whimper, He ripped at his cloths doubling form pain, and rolling in misery.
After a few Hellish seconds that scared Amber enough to make her cover her eyes and cower. Lucien was now sitting, and staring at her. Amber stopped cowering after a long silence to peek out from behind her hands. She was confused the young man was gone, but a wolf was staring at her. With her fear lessened, for to Amber he was just another hunting dog, she said, “Hello there puppy!”
Third excerpt
Amber’s body held a soft shadow, as if she was only partly there. Distorted like a fun house mirror, her body shimmered. Ambers shadow form resembling water rippling out wards, like a single drip hitting a calm pool. It was not only that though, She was darker, as if standing in the shade, and you where viewing her from the blinding brightness of a dessert sun, or the reflective glow of fresh snow in the sunlight.
Lucien was a large black dog. It was unclear what breed he might be, one thing was for certain, he was big. Lucien stood taller than a Great Dane, had a coat like an Irish wolf hound, and the frame more like a Bull mastiff. His hair was jet black, just as it was in human form.
Fourth Excerpt
I was thankfully delighted by the help of the Banshee, I had just released. Amber’s shadow form was petrified by the defining scream the Banshee wailed in her ear. Amber’s shadow body rippled like a heavy wind on a flag.
It was in this moment I was able to break free of her. I rushed back to my study as quickly as I could.
A deep cold set across me. It came from the banshee’s guttural backscream as I like to call it. This noise always arrives after a wail, and it lasts just as long. This deep rumbling noise is the exact opposite frequency of the high pitched wail, these being the real destructive forces for the Banshee. It’s High pitched wail draining the life from most any creature, and it’s earth vibrating base, flash freezing a wide circumference. Both noises change in intensity and tone as the banshee screams.
Please only original sketches/drawings, CGI or Gif’s. With Credit attached to final production for your artwork if selected.
Amber is only about Eight years old in these scenes, and is a wraith. Lucien is about 17. The banshee's I haven't covered as much for looks, so feel free to play with the image on your own ideas, or the descriptions provided in the dialog. Also any single frame images may be attached to the book. If you want credit for the picture on publishing it. Let me know, and I'll give it to you. Again only originals please, as I don't wish to have any trouble with copy right laws.
