Description

For this movie we will need to make some photorealistic ruined buildings, vehicles (cars) etc. This to make it easier to find fitting area's to shoot the movie.

I own a legal copy of Vue Infinite 6 which can be used to make the final renderings.
I can import all normal 3D objects into Vue and it can generate some realistic scenes.
A copy of the latest (limited) free version of Vue 7 is available at: http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_7_pioneer/index.php

But as Vue can import most 3D files the 3D artists are free in their choice of 3D modelling program

Idea

It could be funny if the protagonist walked past ruined known buildings (Atomium, UN headquarters, Wall Street stockmarket, etc...

Yeah there should be least some famous buildings would bring more charasteristics to the "new world" and if you use blue screen that will be easy to do.

great! I'll keep that in mind when we have a better idea where we will shoot the movie.
In the mean time here's a possible location in Brussel: http://www.earthinpictures.com/world/belgium/brussels/atomium.jpg
as proposed by Gert-Jan

If we can do some bleuscreening then those area's can be anywhere around the world.

Use the real thing...

I recently moved from New Orleans and let me tell you, it looks like the place you need because there are still vast areas of the city that look like the disaster happened yesterday. Ruined grocery stores, houses (block after block) , apartment complexes, cars/boats/trucks all wrecked and abandoned, still sitting right where they were (or where the water left them). You might even get some help from the city who has lost a lot of it's film industry to Shreveport. Just an idea.

David, good idea.
Elizabeth is it possible for you to take some hi-res photo's as David suggests?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Do you need to go there? Maybe you could get Elizabeth to take a whole lot of Hi-res photos to send you? Then you could do some greenscreen magic.

Hi, do you happen to have some pictures? This might help with the visualisation.
My main problem is that I'm located in Belgium, Europe and I don't foresee a quick trip to the US any time soon.
This doesn't mean that we won't do filming in the US, it's just that the only equipment to film this short is at this moment my own.
