Description

Wreck A Movie is actively seeking new productions of all lengths, types and niche that want to build a strong production focused community around the film. Documentaries, Short films, full length features, music video and more in any phase of production (development, pre-production, production, post production) are welcome.

In this slow growth first phase, our initial opportunities will be provided to productions with strong leadership and a desire to interact with the community regularly in a relationship that provides the best content and ideas for the production, along with an experience for people that want to do real film stuff in a different way.

For this Task we are looking for shots that describe:

1) New or existing film productions that you would like to see participating in Wreck A Movie

2) Types of films that you want to participate in

3) Your own film project that could use the help of community to get it done and seen

Enhance your shot with supporting links and media (poster, trailer, core team picture, artwork, music, script, outline, synopsis... etc.) Get more notice for your shot by getting comments from the community on your proposal.

This is not a head to head competition. Each proposal has value and we will try to take on as many as we can along with highlighting your proposals on our front page. Our goal is to build this community and service for you so act here to let us know what kinds of films you want to work on.

I'm also looking for productions to help

I am basically over-creative and able to write and help with ideas surrounding script, production organisation, marketing, funding. What I got plenty of is time that I can contribute with for free. ( i just want credit for what i help with )

I have difficulties realizing my own dreams of telling stories. But I believe a lot can be done if we just join together in smaller project groups with or without budget.

What I would like to do is to find film ideas that require very little (or none) special effects, i would like to be able to search this site for simple low-budget stories. And option to be able to block some genre films like zombies and war/space (just because i think those need big budget and lots of actors, costumes, sets) (of course there are some exceptions, some sci-fi-films are able to do very cleverly and cheap)

-----
I simply would not want to waste my time on productions that will never have a chance to become completed!

And it is always much more likely that a film will be completed if the budget is small and it will need only short time, few actors, small crew to be done.
-----

Regarding my own scripts : I have posted some of the shorter stories, but have others in progress. What I want to do is to tell a story, any story.
And I do not have good equipment and enough volunteers to be able to film my scripts. I need your help!

I can also help you develop your scripts if you want to do your own films. And I do not really care where in the world the actual film production will take place, as long as it have got potential to become completed. (serious, devoted people involved!)

-----

Feel free to read some of my scripts and sketches for films (i have been registered twice, so there are 2 users with the name Johan Löfström )
http://www.wreckamovie.com/user/show/2639

and check out my old one-minute experimental art-films on vimeo
(they have been done without actual technology or knowledge or budget)

- contact me with any questions or propositions!

I was still trying to be optimistic, Thierry. There's a couple of hundreds who ever posted shots and have karma scores... I never meant they were concurrent users... ^^'

Thierry Gschwind October 12, 2010 07:05 Flag

I think it's only more like 20-25 really active people arround... or even less.

Angela R. October 12, 2010 00:44 Flag

Not too often, at least... we're not vampires. Well. Not all of us are... 8P

Kalle Max Hofmann October 12, 2010 00:38 Flag

Yeah thats oh so true unfortunately... in here, really 99% of the content come from 1% of the users.

That needs to change, people! Just start posting what's on your minds, we won't bite ^_^

Angela R. October 12, 2010 00:21 Flag

Well, we have over than doubled in one year, since the count is of 5600+ now...

Too bad only about a couple of hundreds are really active... 8(

Pasi Pitkänen August 20, 2009 06:58 Flag

It has begun! :D

Peter Vesterbacka August 20, 2009 00:02 Flag

Yes, not bad. Now we are one quarter of the way there for our next milestone which is 10000 wreckers. Just might be possible to hit that before 31.12.2009...

A huge thanks to all 2501 wreckers who signed up so far!

Anime

Would some type of Anime production count or possibly be considered for a Wreck type community project?

I think Anime could definitely be a sub-catgory of animation movies here on Wreckamovie...

I believe I posted a shot about the necessity for "genre" tags to be connected to a production already some time ago... perhaps what may have felt unnecessary and premature back then would make sense now?

What I mean is, clearly every production should or could have a genre indicated e.g. Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, Drama, etc...

Then, just in the same way users are offered to choose wreckoccupations they could also select their favorite kind of themes. (Any number of)

The original shot in which I suggested something similar was:

Many fen dream of somehow someday acquiring the rights to adapt an anime from Japan or Korea into another language for new regional audiences.

Atte Joutsen August 26, 2008 09:13 Flag

All right everyone, if you have a movie project brewing in the back of your brain, you are in the middle of a production or you have already finished the production and want ideas with marketing and distribution: put your movie here, so we all can share the fun of making it happen!

Don't worry about presenting a niche production. In fact the more niche the better. Let the Hollywood handle the mainstream boom-booms. In the internet we can make what ever we want!-)

Vesa Nieminen August 26, 2008 05:36 Flag

We skipped the whole "lets find some production and add them"-idea and opened the productions to everyone. So some kind of anime is only a few clicks away of being wrecked :)

Robert Seppälä July 07, 2008 20:03 Flag

I thought they announced some time ago that there were going to be some more productions added sometime later this summer and into autumn...not sure though.

Oskar Lönnberg July 07, 2008 07:40 Flag

Actually I have been waiting for more productions to be in here - any kind - but there seems to be some kind of grand plan because no new productions since Sauna and Iron Sky

2222 wreckers!

This may not be the right place to post this... Maybe there also should be a "smalltalk" area inside WAM...

But the search for new productions and the growth of WAM has led to the registration of 2222 wreckers so far! In German, you call this a "Schnapszahl" (schnapps number) so I drink to Wreckamovie!

When there are ten or hundred times that many a wreckers, you can probably really witness a revolution of filmmaking here!

Cheers!
Kalle-Max :D

LOL, a schnapps number! What a wonderful concept...

By the way I agree there should be some kind of general discussion forum in WAM. Vote for Atte Joutsen's shot if you want to see it happen:

Yay! Drinking time, I'll take BIG cup of coffee for that! :)

Peter Vesterbacka July 04, 2009 09:14 Flag

No wrong place to post, this is as good as any!

I also noticed the "Schnapszahl" of 2222, didn't know that it had this special meaning in German. Guess I'll also have a drink (or two) to celebrate;-)

A good start for the revolution! On to wreck Hollywood!

Wolf

I found recently a very interesting independent movie from the Internet, Wolf. It's a feature animation film made with traditional animation. Not much of the plot has been revealed, but basically the film is about a pack of wolves in the American wilderness trying to survive from man's hatred.

The film is made amateur animators working as volunteers and they are looking for more members to the crew on their website. For this purpose Wreck A Movie could be great place for them.

Attached below is the film's poster. Judging from that and the production art on their site, the film looks pretty potential. Reminds me of Balto a little.

My friend and college classmate is one of the head people of this Production. It is, for all intents, a community run effort. The only downside is that they desire people with certain specific skill sets. Last I checked they had been looking for background painters (oil on canvas).

I will put in a good word with them, letting them know this place is awesome. :) :)

Freeborn

I have been following Freeborn for years now. It is a werewolf flick made by fans of werewolf mythos. This is something Wreck a Movie might be able to sink it's teeth into. They are currently looking for support and the Director has been trying to get his name out there so that this particular project might get off the ground a lot sooner.
http://www.anthonybrownrigg.com/freeborn/

The Pack is the fan grouping that grew up around the idea of a werewolf-fan based created movie. Packmembers have added insight, information, ideas, suggestions, debate, and awareness about potential areas of a werewolf lifestyle. With some many people deriding werewolf movies, the Director had hoped to create something that people would love. :) To do this he started a survey, which became The Pack.

:)

I'm a pack member. *grins*

Untitled Dystopia

I am currently in preproduction on a short filmed under the working title of 'Untitled Dystopia' which I've been commissioned to make for a film festival later in the year.

The short revolves around the character of 'Ajax' an out of work artist in her twenties.

Things get very strange when Ajax receives a talking head called Henry in the post. The two social outcasts get into an existential discussion of unemployment, coming of age and the possibility that all of her problems are of her own creation.

Ajax is try to finish a painting she has been working on for a long time but unable to put on the final touches, As Henry berates her for the bleakness of her work and outlook on life.

AJAX: Well life is a bit bleak Henry
HENRY: No its not! Mine was lovely.
AJAX: You were murdered Henry. Horribly

She then goes to see her friend Morgan who tries to put all her problems down to the fact she cant keep a steady job which leads to a series of flashbacks to some of the bizarre problematic jobs Ajax has had in the past, including being mistaken for a hostage negotiator and having to work in a call centre in which the computer system has delusions of overthrowing world leaders…

She is finally forced to go home and confront the painting and take responsibility for her life before it tears into her psyche and rips her world apart, which is looking more and more like a probable outcome.

The film is set against the backdrop of a retro-futuristic or 'Steam Punk' setting similar to that of 'The Golden Compass' wherein the technology of the start of the 20th Century are combined with that of the 21st century, where Zeppelins still fly and typewriters connect to the internet.

I've always been interested in using the internet to help enhance my productions, my very first project had title graphics made by an online collaborator, so I would be very interested in seeing how 'Wreck A Movie' can help my project,

I'm about to start a rewrite of the script, and whilst I don't want to make that public, I would like to have maybe 5 people who I don't know to give feedback.

I'd also like help from the community of the steam punk aspects of the film. what kind of things people would like to see and what can work as part of the story and what would just be cool to see in the background?

and graphics, I've got a title card but people have told me they find the colours a bit horrible, which is the point with the film so i'd like peoples input there, maybe some graphic-y tasks when we move into production.

Stephen Lee April 24, 2008 12:28 Flag

Pre Production and development are great times to start to build a community. Are there parts of the design or character development or scene development that you could put out to the community as a challenge. Then you could start from people you know and perhaps fans from your last film asking them to help you think and grow your concept. I would give both thought and graphical tasks, location finding and other things. There is no need to give up your whole film to the community but some parts also might lend themselves to a crowd source or brain storm. Have a look at what it will take to do your film and let us know if there are elements that you would be willing to get the community involved with.

JimV April 21, 2008 01:13 Flag

I like it. I'm really drawn to steampunk... the way it employs the optimism following the industrial revolution, with the new optimism. It is like an aesthetic with built in commentary
