Description

We are currently designing a digital 3D environment for a scene in a "Cloning Chamber".

We want the chamber to be gigantic, but it should look, like it was set up in an industrial basement. Everything should have a dirty, gritty and industrial feeling to it.
A place you wouldn´t want to be born in.
The set will also include a bridge, or a stairway of some sort.

We are looking for ideas for the breeding pods, textures, items or machines in this set.

44 Gallon Drums are Pretty Gritty

Two 44 galon drums joined with a thick flanged connection.

The top drum has a view port, either round or ovoid, internally lit, maybe strobing.

Instrument panel + flashing lights.

A clawed crane arm periodically moves containers around, quickly. Similar to a computer tape library. Slow to pick up then fast movement, followed by a slow movement. The thick flange mentioned earlier could facilitate a locking mechanism.

Surface rust, corrosion and steam are necessary elements. The occasionsal broken pod could reveal dessicated corpses, or rotting living clones writhing in agony.

Well, it depends...

I think it could a sort of 2D/3D interaction rather than a totally 3D environment, but apart of that I think you could design something like the "factory" for human blood as seen in "Blade 2"...

Just for the starting... A pile of bodies perfectly alligned horizontally and vertically which grows into artificial preeding pods, very "fetal"...
Better, instead of being horizontally and vertically it could be a sort of structure which could remind of a woman uterus (HR Giger docet...).

The stairway or bridge could be mobile, and being able to reach each breeding pods for checking.

Uhmmm... Yes, it might work... A range of scaffoldings which might give the idea of a "supermarket" for genetic experiments.

I think the main problem is to plan wisely the shooting, to save time and effort.
If this environment will be used for interactions with real actors, the problem will be to manage wisely the shooting.
In the TV series "V-Visitors", when the main character discovers a main storage for bodies in one of the alien spaceships, in the long shots the environment appears to be a 2D overimpressed drawing, and (only) for some scenes with limited actions they managed to build small sets.
It's all about what the characters will do in this environment...

I like the idea of the moving bridge.
Concerning the breeding pods, I thought about a scaffolding like structure where devices are attached to in clusters like bubbles.
