Adding links adds extra line breaks

(Is Wreck A Movie still alpha?? Any this is task for bugs)

When pasting a long link to a shot some times the link gets additional line break. See shot

http://www.wreckamovie.com/shots/show/1097

The link seemed to work in that shot, but it was due to server being nice.

All characters of an URL must be in a row. On that shot there was an line break in the middle of the URL so the end part wasn't included to the linked part. It is fixed now. That is not the say that there might not be some problems with url-recognition.

P.S. We are not alpha. I should propably close this one down, and open a generic bug task.

Old news on front page

For my surprise I saw a topic "New Film! Sauna Added" on the front page and when I followed on the link:

http://www.wreckamovie.com/productions/wreck-a-movie-platform/news/8

the page had a date "Posted April 15th". This is not news anymore, unless somebody made a new definition for news :)

It was editing event. Stephen Lee edited "New Film! Sauna Added", but it is still a bug because it was I who edited it.

Telling about editing news items, shots and so on was some kind of brainfart we had when designing those. I think I´m going to remove those when I do some other changes to front page events stuff (closing a task is not shown), unless somebody has anything against it?

We could call them "olds" :)

Unread comments to your shots

I noticed that when you comment someone's comment, that is in a shot you have started, it shows in My Wreck in unread comments to your shots. I don't know if that is the intention, but I'd prefer that WAM would recognize it if you have commented under your own shot and not report it.

This is a bug that was introduced when we introduced separated pages for individual shots. It is fixed now and will be released soon.

Private shots

For my surprise i received a message like this "You must be a member of private group Fleet Development Team to access this shot." when I followed a shot from front/home page. You should not see these shots on the front page if they are private.

You are right. I fixed it and it´ll be released to the site with next batch of updates.

Thanks for letting us know.

Remembering the login

On the login page there's the "Remember me" check box. Is the functionality such that if that box is checked the user is automatically logged in on that computer when he enters WAM? If so my Firefox 2.0.0.14 only remembers the login info but does not enter the site, so I have to go through the login page every time when I want to collaborate in WAM.

Geez. I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.12 and haven't had any troubles
since after the first day I got involved here.
I did try Firefox 2x, but it was so bleeding slow and memory-hoggish in opening itself (even with FasterFox Plugin) that I ripped it out, vowed *never* to use it again, and installed this older version.

I wish I knew how to help with the login problem. :(

Jumping to a shot that's not on the task's first page

If I try follow the link from "My Shots":
http://www.wreckamovie.com/user/my_shots
to a shot that is no more on the first page of the task, the link doesn't take me to that shot.

For example:

I have a shot under "Iron Sky" / "Future corporations" called "Hervanta" and it is located currently on the seventh page. So the url in the link in "My Shots" should basicly read:
http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/12?page=7#shot_193
instead of what is says now:
http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/12#shot_193

I know it is quite challenging to find out on which place the shot is, but the feature doesn't serve its purpose right now.

Just to let you know, it does the same for my shot in "Iron Sky". I guess that is shot id 510:
http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/27#shot_510

There's one comment and My Shots shows zero again.

Vesa Nieminen May 23, 2008 06:48 Flag

All comments count, comments are not calculated as cron job so it must be a bug :) We cache comment number per shot and for on this particular shot the caching has failed for some reason. I fixed it for your shot and start investigating what might be the source of this problem.

Thanks for letting us know.

Toni Nummela May 20, 2008 10:30 Flag

You're welcome.

Also noticed something little on "My Shots"-page. The number of comments for this shot is displaying zero in "My Shots" page even when you both guys commented it.

Is this because:
1. They are admin comments and don't count (Why?)
2. Amount of comments is calculated "as a cron job"?
3. It is simply a bug?

Stephen Lee May 20, 2008 09:49 Flag

Thanks Toni!

Vesa Nieminen May 20, 2008 07:33 Flag

Yeah, this is a known problem and we are trying to solve it.

I have mainly thought two ways of solving it. We could find out which page the shot is at and then show it, or we could show a page only showing that particular shot with its comments. Both ways have ups and downs and we need to think it through.

Thanks for your feedback.

Sorting Members not working correctly

I just noticed sorting Members of Iron Sky by # of shots and comments isn't working correctly.

The list does get sorted, but not completely. I think it's sorting each page separately or something, and not the whole list. For instance, I've given 13 shots and 39 comments and should be seen pretty much on top when sorted by shots or comments, but I'm not. Many other people (say, Jukka Pinomaki) have given lots of shots and comments as well, but they aren't on top of the list either.

Thanks!

Bug fixed.

Vesa Nieminen May 22, 2008 11:04 Flag

Now working and faster than before member sorting at your local members page.

Toni Nummela May 20, 2008 06:58 Flag

Any progress here? I thought this was working some days ago, but now again it's the same way Timo-Heikki described here.

Olli Makkonen May 11, 2008 17:21 Flag

And when you click the location link to sort the members according to location, nothing happens. So there's another thing not working.

Sorting of active tasks is ambiguous

Some tasks have a flame in front of them in the "Hot" column. I really cannot figure out, what it is meaning. To me those with a flame don't seem any more 'hot' topics as the others, just randomly picked. And furthermore, ranking by pressing the 'Hot' link on top does not create any recognizable order. The flames are still in random, and I cannot recognize even then any clear ordering. (The last may be ok, though.)

Vesa Nieminen May 09, 2008 10:28 Flag

The "some point" came today. So now the ordering works correctly.

Lare Lekman May 08, 2008 11:35 Flag

Yes, a good point... The "hotness sorting" is a feature aka. a known bug. We'll fix that at some point later. The flame symbol is a toggle that can be set for a task by the production owner to encourage collaboration on that task.

Invite New Wreckers - no form?

From my dashboard, I clicked on "Invite new wreckers" and am taken to a page explaining how many invitations I have, but no form to invite anyone, or any explanation of how to invite a new wrecker.

Russell Tripp May 08, 2008 12:34 Flag

Ah - I just realized (if I'd read all of what was shown on that screen) that I still have 5 days before I can invite anyone (just signed up) - perhaps that's why I wasn't seeing anything. Sorry.

Lare Lekman May 08, 2008 11:12 Flag

Thanks Russell. The Invite links can be found on the right hand side of the Invitation / production list page. They truly are very small, so we'll make them more visible in the near future.

WAM News tab from Dashboard shows error

When I go to my dashboard and click on the WAM News tab, I get an error message -

The issue is now fixed and WAM news should work normally.
