We know there are 6 main characters. None of them have names, none of the have characteristics. All we have is the concept.

I am looking for ideas, thoughts, images, anything that may spur the characters.

Let's expand on this...

I like where you are going with these themes. I would love to have each of THE SIX represent various states of fame but I don't want this to be over the top. I want it to be played subtly. However with that said, I like these themes:

Girl 1: -The celebrity who becomes obsessed with their own image, using every moment to train themselves for their media career. She is an "internet" whore.

Girl 2: -The celebrity who becomes the victim of a stalker. Online, and eventual real life. Perhaps this person is throughout the film, kind of like the obsesses girl in law of attraction.

Girl 3: -More famous now that she is dead. This is thier friend who kills themself. Perfect.

Guy 1: -The celebrity who tries to ignore their fame and live a normal life, but keeps running into problems caused by fans.

Guy 2: -The least famous of the six. He becomes insecure with himself, yet he is talented in his own right. In the end his art rises as the others fall.

Guy 3: -The controversial celebrity whose every move is nothing more than attempts to getting attention.

There. Those are the 6 basic characteristics.

I think this is a good start. You have hit the nail on many parts. If we can get a few people giving ideas on this site and me/you guide the storyline a little bit we can come up with something brilliant.

I would like to sprinkle in the Beatles rise to fame storyline a little bit. Not event for event but enough for some to see similarities and be familiar. Plus the Beatles are a good hot word for description and marketing AND it goes along with the storyline.

I am really looking forward to this. We just need to get it active.

A friend on FB, and a fellow writer asked me to explain the project to her a bit more, after she saw the post. Here's what I told her

"I think there's an inciting event, and there's definitely a premise, but I don't think we have anything close to a story or plot just yet, though it looks like there's plenty of options and promise in the character descriptions and premise. I think that's kinda gonna be my job...

So far, it seems like a group, perhaps a collective or some kind of communal situation. There's the dead girl, which really has promise, b/c she gets to start out perfect, unlike the rest of the gang, who are still alive and can easily showcase their flaws. With the dead girl, you have to wait to learn her flaws through flashback and/or anecdote, and if you pair that with her posthumous rise as an artist, it makes my mouth water a little as i think about how the other five choose to deal with this accidental legacy that is left them and the events that it can work as a catalyst for.

The theme seems to be something along the lines of fame, its fickle nature, and how it affects this group."

Dead Girl

What if the Dead Girl's art is not only created during prod, but marketed in it's own right, kind of similar to what I think you'd like to do with the twittering, etc.

And, if she had a Face or Space page, the other members of the group could argue about the propriety of her posthumous prosperity on that page(s).

Who in the group is responsible for posting her stuff and capitalizing on her art?

It is a decent idea that I think needs a little flushing out...I want the group to be cohesive but I could see an argument about it. Maybe at first they start running it as a community group and as they raise to stardom.

Explore fame as a problem

Ultimately the characters are probably best left to the scriptwriter, but from the plot it sounds like this is a film about how different people react to sudden fame.

As such, it might be a good idea to use the different characters to explore the different ways that fame can affect people. You might even use them to show all the ways that fame can destroy a person's life.

For example:

-The celebrity who becomes obsessed with their own image, using every moment to train themselves for their media career.

-The celebrity who tries to ignore their fame and live a normal life, but keeps running into problems caused by fans.

-The celebrity who becomes paranoid because they don't know who really likes them as an ordinary person.

-The celebrity who becomes the victim of a stalker.

-The ex-celebrity who loses fame but still thinks they're somehow more important than others, who still expects to be treated as a VIP even when they're not.

-The celebrity who thinks they are a guru that can know and do everything, even though they're actually pretty talentless.

...you can find examples of all these kinds of people in the life stories of singers, actors, politicians etc.

Does the incongruous rise of Guy2 affect him? Is there tension among the group? Is there someone in the group who might have been a mentor to Guy2 that he is now surpassing? Does this "insecurity," in Guy2 cause him to react against percieved but non-existant aggression from other members of the group? does this cause a chain reaction?

In fact I will now name the characters...and possibly cast them.

Real world, not real world

I think it would be pretty cool to have the 6 main characters act in the real world ie do real tweets, have their own FB pages etc etc. Mixing actors with real world could provide for some very interesting and unpredictable results. Not sure how to sort out the rights etc, but I think it could become something very unique.

Great! I think it would work perfectly as a prequel kind of thing. Don't think anybody has done it before either, so would be a nice first for the production too.

Mental Eclectic February 03, 2009 05:40 Flag

I am going to look into casting the main 6. I will keep you updated.

Mental Eclectic February 03, 2009 05:30 Flag

This is a good idea. I would love to fill the roles and have the actors use this as a method to getting into character. I picture actually creating the "dead" friend's artwork...video blogs, poetry, etc. We could have all of them tweet...almost like a prequel to the actual film.
Brilliant.
