Any other references?

The song by Ibon Casas is cool. But if you want other musical references, it would help the WAM community if you were to give us some ideas what you want the music in Agustina to sound like:

Classical or modern orchestrated stuff? Metal or pop? English or Spanish influences. Rumba, maybe?

What is traditional Aragonian music like? Any inspiration there?

Kemopetrol would be good

Check out http://www.myspace.com/kemopetrolband

They were pretty big in Spain a few years ago as well.

We could talk to Kalle Koivisto if he would have time / interest to work on a few songs.

"!Agustina de Aragón queda en la memoria!"

The sound and song are fantastic (straight Helloween from the "Keeper of the Seven Keys" -era), and "las líricas" are campy as hell. !Guay, de verdad!

In hindsight: The song keeps repeating in my head, which is always a sign of a great pop song.

I hope señor Casas does not feel "desgraciado" by this analysis..

I consider the Agustina-song to be "pop" despite it's power metal sound, just because the song and it's lyric structure are so pop song-like.

By comparision i also consider the Finnish Eurovision winner Lordi's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" to be a form of "pop" despite all appearances... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdItwaLrv1U

'Educational'

Loud, fast and educational: Ibon's arrangement reminds me
of one of my favorite comics themes ever - 'Las Tres Mosqueperros'

Not knowing a lot about the history, I would take this to be the
Artillery Sergeant's perspective as he tries to recruit adolescents...

I would wonder if the 'hasta el cuchillo' theme wouldn't be more effective?

Opinions on Casas' soundtrack sample

Wooo, that's a very loud soundtrack!

It sounds like it might be okay in a very frantic battle scene, but I don't think it could be used anywhere else in the film.

It also sounds quite modern, it could be difficult to mix with the period setting of the film. On the other hand, maybe a new arrangement of the same music might work?
