Description

For the first year that Martin Aggett interacted with people online we didn't acknowledge that he was a fictional character. Today, even though we've made it much more obvious that Martin is fictional, many people still spend some time believing he is a real person before figuring out he is fictional.

Avoiding being perceived as a hoax should be a consideration when you're planning a realistic transmedia storytelling experience or alternate reality game. This is one of the themes we are going to explore in the film.

One section of the film will explore hoax marketing, building trust with the audience, and the issues we had when we started this project.

For this task we are asking people who have interacted with Martin to make a short video telling us how they felt when they found out he was a fictional character. Videos should start with the phrase "I was..." or "I felt..." followed by an adjective like "shocked, surprised, angry, amused", or whatever - then you can continue to describe the circumstances and your reaction to finding out Martin was fictional.

We understand that not everyone can afford an HD video camera, but if you have the option of using one please set it to record in 720x1280 aspect ratio. If your video ends up being larger than the 20MB limit imposed by wreck-a-movie just upload it to your favorite video sharing site (remember to allow full resolution downloads) and put the link in your shot. Thanks, and have fun!

My Reaction

I may not be the best person, not having really interacted with Martin before the reveal, but I gave it a shot.

I also didn't really edit because I hate few things more in this world than my voice.

Awesome! Thanks for taking the plunge and making the video. Unedited - raw footage is best so that we can incorporate it into the final film easier. If you don't mind I'm going to cross-post this video over at opengamedesign.com - thanks again for contributing.
