The Wreckamovie Platform -team is looking for your ideas and comments. Join and show your support for Wreckamovie Platform. Wreckamovie going mobile
DescriptionWe (Markku Tähtinen and I) are thinking about making a mobile-version of Wreckamovie as our thesis in school. Basic idea is to make an optimized version for iPhone-users (at first), and then maybe expand it to Android and other touchscreen devices we (and you) think would be good to support. Now, we would like you, as users of WAM, to give us some ideas of what actions and features the first version would include: - Only browsing?
This task including your input will be part of our thesis as early study of subject. Thanks to every shot and idea we get! :) UPDATE: We've started sketching the layout of WAM for iPhone this week. We'll try to keep you updated of progress and show you some ideas we have had.
Shotsa choice for the user.A good idea. make it open the dashboard as default and allow access to change and comment the tasks. There is no point of the software otherwise since the headlines disappear from the dash as soon as they are read. Personally I like to use "a bonzai" version of the original site with my Nokia. There will be a nokia (symbian) version of this, won't there? Latest activityWhen I use WAM on my mobile phone, I just go to Latest Activity and that's it. That's the only information I need when I'm on road. For mobile phone version, you could remove poster and user pictures (they are silly). CommentsHmm, yes, that would work better for me, I suppose... Hmm... The fact I forgot about it being so prominent perhaps shows how easy it is to miss (or else it's just me being stupid ;) ). The thing is, if you want to mark them to check them again later isn't that practically the same thing as saving them to a favourites list? Perhaps the link could just be renamed to something like "Save this shot"? That would be more neutral, it would apply whether you wanted to admire it later or deal with it. Well, there IS already a "Add to favorites" option on the top-right corner of every shot... 8) I just meant to say I'd like *another* way to mark shots to check them again later... without adding them to favorites, which feels somewhat "different" to me. Angela, I think that's the idea of the "favourite shots" feature. Perhaps it should be displayed more prominently? I personally agreed that plain text would most likely do nicely and that the ability to read and comment shots would most likely be the most used feature. One thing that does worry me however, is the possibility to read something quickly and then forget that you had to do something about it... Maybe there should be a way to mark the shot "as unread" for checking again when on a proper computer? I mean, something less bold-looking than "Add to Favorites"... |

I think m.wreckamovie.com would make google see there is a mobile version. Also, I think that most mobile browsers automatically look for a version at m.address.com
David, you got me wrong, it certainly will not be an application, it will just detect if user browses with mobile-device and gives the mobile-view if does. And since we use subdomain for custom-productions, we thought it would be better to use only www.wreckamovie.com and detect if browsed through mobile. Ofcourse there will be link to full site if preferred.
Why make an application? Wouldn't be easier, and just as effective, to just make an m.wreckamovie.com version? For one thing it would make it platform independent.
Sorry for this late answer. We haven't really looked at Symbian-version yet, it's quite different from what we've been thinking to do. What do you mean by bonzai-version? Very simple, mostly text-based?
At this point, we'll be optimizing WAM for iOS-devices and Android, hopefully Palm's WebOS will use the same layout and work the same way.
I think this is enough to do for our thesis. Of course we will develop it further after finishing this part of the project.
