Closing Note

Lasse Valli has created awesome looking logo, it will be in the teaser trailer.

Description

Greetings fellow earthlings,

let's start the production from the start, the title texts! The obvious starting point..

Two title texts are needed for the new teaser. The texts say:

ANTI-ENERGIA
PRESENTS

You can see the texts as reference material on this task. Also, the font to be used can be found at http://www.dafont.com/font.php?file=kremlin - you may use other fonts, if they are free for personal and commercial use. Other details:

- The maximum time for the title texts is 4-8 seconds. You can also submit still images, if there's no animation.
- The letters R and N are flopped on purpose, but you can try to make even better mistakes!
- The sequence should be a PNG or TGA format image sequence with an alpha channel. Extra points for a beta channel!
- Framerate 24fps, resolution 1920x1080 Full HD, pixel aspect ratio 1:1. A bit odd format, but this is an odd teaser.

Use your imagination to make the title texts more interesting. soviet style? 3d look? shiny effects? twinklers? Remember, often a calm look is better than a lot of sparkles.. in fact, the reference material is currently the winner..

Anyway, give it a spin! This is your chance to get rejected!

If by any chance your texts get selected, remember that the teaser will be seen by an amount of people equal to a large continent!! (the population of Antarctica is 1000-5000)

The animation looks great! Can you render the pictures and the animation at 1920x1080 resolution and submit them?

Also, could you try rendering the word 'rust sky' with the same look? It'll be the Rust Sky logo at the end of the trailer.

WOW! That's really good!

Angela R. June 08, 2010 19:41 Flag

Much better, really awesome! Thumb up!

Thanks for your comments and thumb-ups!

Hopefully light intesity "hits the spot" now. :o)

Very, very good! I love the rugged edges and deep texture.

It's way too dark, but that can be easily fixed (just add exposure in Photoshop or something).

Kari Pihkala June 08, 2010 07:50 Flag

That look would be great for a new 'rust sky' logo! Have a look at http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/1327

Although, as Daniel said, a bit too dark.

Daniel Saarimäki June 08, 2010 07:02 Flag

A bit too dark maybe, but still great!

here goes nothing

I got the texture in the JPG from:
http://a-touch-of-texture.deviantart.com/art/Rusted-Wall-110012677

The owner would like to be mentioned, and possibly linked to.

I just made it a bit redder & darker.

EDIT: Added one with your font. And a brighter one for Angela.
AND an orange one for Kris.

last one with rust-texture from task #1327

Kari Pihkala June 07, 2010 18:06 Flag

There is now a new task to create a new Rust Sky logo for the teaser. The Rust Sky logo above looks rather good and is a good starting point for that new task. It would still need a 3d look and a bit rougher edge to the font. Perhaps letters in lowercase. It would be nice if it looked like the iron sky logo but with rusty feeling :)

Here's the task: http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/1327

Carl, could you try a slightly more orange shade of the brighter one?

Angela R. June 03, 2010 18:33 Flag

I like the texture, but it somehow seems too dark. Although, of course, it could be all my laptop's fault...

Language and appearance suggestions

Because this production seems to be pointing to former sovjet disciplines, why don't use cyrillic wordletters in writing the title text? Just a suggestion. And preferably translated to russian, if possible, so the teaser can be spread out to all sovjet...ehm...red...hmmm..communist countries that still exist.

I have a funny trasformation also to suggest: that word "presents" could be written "pretends". I have not at the moment more to suggest, my standard for ideas pro day is under the number of my one hand fingers.

EDIT: added a screen capture, where there is that word antienergia in cyrillic letters!

Kris, that is exactly what Kari has done in the "PRESENTS" frame sample above.. :P

You could use one or two cyrillic letters but in a form that people from countries with roman alphabets would understand.

For example the famous Russian game Tetris did this:

I prefer subtitles in english, that is the way to go. Haraso.

The main title in russian or at least cyrillic fonts and subtitles in english.

Angela R. May 28, 2010 08:08 Flag

I absolutely love the way you have been flipping the N and R in the titles to make them look Cyrillic "I" and "Ya". That's some very simple and yet very effective reference.

Either texts *completely* in Russian with English subs beneath for us to read would work. I personally would go for the main title text in Cyrillic font though, as I fear English speakers would risk not to notice at all the Russian subs otherwise. While if the main text is in Russian, they will be *forced* to read the English subs...

Kari Pihkala May 28, 2010 08:02 Flag

Great ideas! However I'm afraid no-one would understand what it means..

Perhaps there could be subtitles? So, either main title texts in cyrillic fonts and english subtitles or main title texts in english and cyrillic subtitles?

Angela R. May 28, 2010 07:10 Flag

If we need Russian translations, I have a dear friend over there who loves Iron Sky and would most certainly agree to contribute some language expertise. Just let me know!
