DescriptionThis is an FAQ Task. Ask anything about the production by giving a shot. Q. What is Second Empire? A. Second Empire is the name of a 3D graphic novel made by Mechmaster a user on the project Dalek forums, all the artwork are origional creations by Mechmaster based on the Daleks from the British science fiction show Doctor Who You can view the comic as well as mechmasters other 3D creations on his homepage here
The series is based on the comic trying to be totally accurate to the comic but doing things differently either because it works better in animation or my own style of working or just doing something different Q. Why are you animating it? A. Why not, it started out as me asking for a couple of models to play around with and then i realized it would be fun to try and animate it Q. Why do these Daleks sound differently and why do they have names? A. These Daleks aren't the same ones from the show Doctor Who, i look at it as though they are alternate reality ones that have had a slightly different birth than the originals hence the way they look, act and the fact they have names

I think Blender particle system can handle them, but I'm not sure about the format...
Theres also the effects such as explosions and the like they are generated with Cinema 4D's pyrocluster system
Yeah. Those riggings are hard to move from a program to another.
The main reason i want to stick to Cinema 4D and lightwave is you can get the same results and do the same things more or less a program like blender cant
and all of the characters are rigged using C4D's xpresso system
Open source programs are freely available for anybody, and some programs like Blender are just as powerful as commercial programs. Anybody who wants to help you can just download the program and start modelling. If you use commercial programs and somebody wants to help you, he always can't do that because of the price of the commercial programs.

It's simple. Export them to .obj format for excample and import them to Blender.
i wouldn't know how to switch to an open source or know what it means for that matter
all the 3D models are made in cinema 4D thats why were sticking to that program
I don't think they need any contributers when I look their work :)
Can't you switch to open source standards? It makes it easier to contribute.
3D animation is being done in cinema 4D release 11.5 there is another animator on the team he uses C4D but also used lightwave 3D
Editing at the moment is being done using final cut express HD but after the episode i am working on is finished i will be moving over to premiere pro
