Scene 5, the whole

Hello Everybody!
Well, this sure took a while to edit. This was really tricky, but I do hope that you will find the solutions motivated. I used some material from the beginning in the end as well, after some dozens of other variations and experiments. Thank you all again for your contributions, and please join in for the final in our opera!
All the best for this year to all of you!

Hi Antti,
Thanks for a very relevant request! Backstage passes for rehearsals will be available to all contributors, after all, you are the creators of this opera. We let you know the procedures of getting these backstage passes closer to the event.

Antti Wiio November 13, 2010 12:55 Flag

As I live within five hour's drive from Savonlinna, I do hereby declare that any flight prize that would perhaps be coming my way should be given to one of the more distant contributors.

But one thing that would surely help to maintain my motivation would be the prospect of a backstage pass for the rehearsals of this opera. If this work of art is to include music that I have for my part been writing, I sure would like to be there when a real life orchestra and world class singers start to bring this music alive.

And I think that it would be only fair that these backstage passes would be made available to all those who have made a significant contribution for this opera.

The Music for scene 5, the beginning

Dear Collegues!
I thought that I posted this last week but Päivi just told me she couldn't find the edit. Well, taking a closer look I coldn't find it either. Anyway, here it comes. This one was a really tricky one, but I think it has something glorious in it, and I'll be continuing with the scene's end. All the best to all of you! Thanks!
Markus

Joan's Aria - Final version

Here a message from Markus - our composing operative!

Dear Composers!

You have all been waiting a long time for the edit of Joan's aria. It's finally ready. I want to welcome all our new composers warmly on board. It's really great to have more of you collaborating. It also means that the edits are more trickier to do, that's why it took so long. I spent many hours comparing and trying out your material before making this solution. This means, and I'm very very sorry, that I couldn't use Ilari your material in this scene. You sent in for the first time and I do hope you will join in during upcoming tasks. There will be space for your music, and we have a long way to go before this pianoscore is built up to an entity.

What you now hear is a piece of music that in my opinion has coherence. I'm very happy to work with your contributions, the next task will be a BIG choir piece, I hope that you all will enjoy working with that.

Thank you again, it's a true pleasure working with you all!

Best regards from

Markus

This sounds relly good. Perfect. More of this!

Elena Goubanova May 23, 2011 22:12 Flag

Joan's determinism in this production implies a lack of free will, should her aria be bound more tightly to the rhythms and intimate details of brilliant previous scenes?

Nancy Somerville May 16, 2011 02:22 Flag

Wonderful composition! With each new scene that comes out I'm astonished all over again at how each composer's submissions are woven into the final creation--and it works!

Javier Armendáriz May 12, 2011 09:05 Flag

Congratulations Markus!
It's great! Compliments also to all the composers.

Phillip! I'm truly sorry for misspelling your name. I will correct that in the score and post a new one.
So sorrryyyyy!
Markus

Phillip Wayne May 10, 2011 13:53 Flag

A truly interesting sound for the times. The only real criticism I could make is that you misspelled my name (Phillip, not Philip). What a talented group of people!

I will be watching for the choir piece, and can't wait for the orchestration.

Demetrio Bonvecchio May 10, 2011 11:50 Flag

I'm so proud of this Aria, fantastic "assembly" Markus!!
Compliments to all the composers!!

Enrico De Zottis May 10, 2011 11:35 Flag

An amazing effort - it seems there is something about my multi-voice scores Markus likes :D..

Thank you all for putting this together. It is a beautiful and modern story, sad and also some humour here and there. Just love it. It does make us think that things are not always what they seem to be and leaves room to imagination.
