Description

[Edit 7/2011: We could still really use the film projector, gramophone and typewriter if anyone's interested.]

3D models needed:
1) Film projector (1945 or older)
2) Pool table (contains pool sticks and balls etc.) [finished by Richard Perkins]
3) Gramophone
4) Typewriter

The film projector would be used for showing movies and propaganda films in the auditorium of the base, the gramophone and typewriter will be in officers' rooms. If you can find references of German models from WWII era it'd be awesome, but they can be from other countries as long as the models look like they could have existed in 1945 or before that.

Post a shot on the task to reserve a model you'd like to work on. For general 3D-instructions, see: http://www.wreckamovie.com/tasks/show/2178

Pool Table

This table is based on a 1890 pool table reference pic I found through a Google images search (last image attached).

Models included:
- 8' Pool Table (playfield size: 44" x 92")
- Pool balls
- Pool cue (standard 58")
- Rack
- Lamp
- Cue Chalk

Waiting on feedback on models before I texture them.

Very nice work! From writer team's perspective it's exactly what we wanted. :) Thanks a million!

Risto's feedback on the 3D-implementation attached:
---

When I speak about separate or detachable parts I mean that you can selest
them in edit mode with mouse over and l-button.
When I speak about more polys I usually mean more vertices in edgelines
(or circles) -> minimum 6, more usual 8 to 12 vertices per circle

Pooltable:
* please retain modifiers (like mirror / array)
* no need to make tris, quads are fine and preferable
* make everything closed (in this case the table legs could have ends ->
easier to make broken versions or tip the table over)
* the ball holes can have more vertices (and the ball sacks could be
separate parts)
* manual dual side fix (in this case I'm referring to the ball holes ->
you can see through them while in textured mode)
* object feet and object center to 0 meters (grid origin)

* otherwise excellent and elegant model (especially the corners are smooth
without taking much polygons)
* this object is really well optimized (you can use more vertices on this
piece easily :D)
* excellent measurements :D

Lamp:
* the lamp suspension lines can be cylinders with ends (because they will
most likely be seen from above rather than from below)
* no need to make tris, quads are fine and preferable
* more polys to lamps
* make everything closed (the lamps could easily be whole lamps insted of
lamp parts)
* there could be separate glass parts in the shader part (metal rims and
glass shader?)
* excellent measurements :D
* object to 3 meter height (suspension lines) and object center to origin

* again nice model (quite simple though :D)

Cue:
* no need to make tris, quads are fine and preferable
* more polys (not necessary but can be rounder since there won't be many
cues around)
* make the cue from two or three parts so it can be detached / broken
easily (you know the cues that are made of two parts, the handle and the
business end :D)

* good basic model
* excellent measurements :D

Balls:
* no need to make tris, quads are fine and preferable
* more polys preferable

* good basic model

Rack:
* no need to make tris, quads are fine and preferable
* I would make a mid way cue holder to the rack (something like you have
in gun racks)
* Make the basic frame from one part and the downward smaller sections as
separate parts
* object to 1,5 meter height and 4 cm to right (current object center) and
object center to origin -> this will ensure that the object will appear to
be on the wall (not in it or on the floor)

* hugely appreciated detail and good model
* excellent measurements

Chalk:
* nice :)

Missing:
* triangle (or diamond shape) for setting balls

Question?

What kind of film projector? 8mm 16mm or 35mm And are you wanting something like this? Or the more modern like the latter one?

The Bell and Howell is more authentic but the others are better looking.

The projector is ran and maintained by an officer who loves films and the whole projector business is probably his project so I think it'd be more likely that it would be a bit older and more worn (~1945 or even earlier) model. This was my point when suggesting 16mm too.

Otherwise no objections, thanks for answering these Risto!

Most propably prop (animated one, which plays movie in a "movie theatre")

Animated film rolling (and beam of light) would be preferred

Just a placeholder first for the logo would be nice (model feedback before texturing)

It's almost new and in use so shiny one is better (as it's new then, 1947)

I also suggest that there could be a simpler one made too

Also link for more detailed list of cameras and projectors (please do look through, there are also german movie projectors there :D): http://www.xs4all.nl/~wichm/cinelist.html

Also suggesting 35mm film which was a bit popular (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/35_mm_film and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movie_projector) -> maybe not significant detail since the different projectors look pretty much alike and the movie clips will most propably be 16mm versions :P

Been playing around, just see how complex this model is and it has lots of parts. Anyway I have quite a few more questions.

Is this going to be used as prop in the game or in a video clip in the game?

If used in the game does it need to be animated?

Do you want a specific logo used on the projector or just a general Nazi bird and cross logo?

Should it be shiny and new or should it look like it was made in 1940 and has been kicked around a bit?

Very good questions, sorry for the poor description in the task. :)

16mm would be the most likely, I think. The second model in the top row of the first pic looks very much like the type we had in mind.
