Profile website link and http prefix

If you enter your profile website as "http://foo.bar" then the link generated on your profile page looks like "http://http//foo.bar" ... which is not nice ...

Thanks, good point. This will probably get fixed in the next development round.

Matti Piiroinen March 02, 2008 22:34 Flag

I also noticed this problem. Usually in networking services users are supposed to enter the website in the form http://www.mysite.com and I think it should be like that here too. Also it would be good to give advice to users by saying something like "Please enter the link in the form http://www.mysite.com".

Niko Silvennoinen March 02, 2008 20:18 Flag

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.12 and when clicking a website address like "http://mywebpage.com" it actually tries to find a webpage "http" and displays of course an error message of an unknown page.
But when the webpage information is entered into form "www.mywebpage.com" in your profile, it works fine.

Possible to add a box to profile page?

This isn't a bug but it is a possible to add a information box to profile page where you can write things about yourself... a little more than that "specialist list"

Exuse my English :)

I guess Ville would be happy to just tell something about himself. "About Me" sounds better than CV.

Stephen Lee March 04, 2008 11:56 Flag

yea, kind of like a .. CV but not really a CV. Would About Me be a good name for this box?

Niko Silvennoinen March 03, 2008 11:09 Flag

Would that box be text-only? I would appreciate if we could use html-tags also in that box :)

Timo Vuorensola March 03, 2008 10:22 Flag

A good idea. Let's add this kind of box also.

RSS feeds are also password protected

I tried to subscribe RSS feeds (follow production) using IE 7.0.6000. When using Windows Vista subscribed feeds are then added to some "general windows RSS feeds" where other programs can use them (like sidebar on the desktop or outlook). These other programs however cannot access the RSS feed (other than browser). This must be because the whole site is still password protected and I think this will fix when the site is opened. But in the meantime I get these kind of error messages:

"problem connecting to server"
"You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation"

Just a Bump on the Learning Curve

Double sign-ins aren't something I'm used to quite yet!
I hope this tidbit will help others here, so...
I had utterly forgotten to tell Firefox to save my old password when I signed in yesterday. So it evaporated...and I wound up getting a new one by E-mail. Took about 30-35 minutes or so for the
E-mail to arrive due to Net traffic, I guess.
I had my default browser IE6 (cos I hate IE7) zipped up so blasted tight for all its notorious security holes that I hadn't set it to remember what the cat ate for dinner last night, never mind a password.

I have both of my browsers set properly now, so if I forget to use Firefox I won't be hindered.

Thanks for the comment Lynn. The double sign in is only up for the next month or so for the guys in the special group. We want to fix all these IE problems and stuff before we let in the general population. Thanks for your input. Keep it coming.

Linking to shots

A very minor bug.. When clicking on the front page some of the recent shots, if does not direct to the beginning of the shot where the actual text is, but the end where I see only the comments box. The text for the shot is just above and I have to scroll up to read it.

I just noticed, that if the shot is the first on the page, then the text can be seen from the beginning.

Members-page not working on IE 7.0.5730.11

Didn't notice this place to post bug reports. Anyway:

IE 7.0.5730.11 doesn't show the Members-page at all. It offers me a file to download (11kb, unknown filetype).

Yep. It has been added to the list. Go developers go!
Thanks all. Please continue to report.

Riku Uotinen March 06, 2008 11:12 Flag

Same thing. Link offers file without any file extension. There seems to be valid html in that file though (if you save that file and open it using some text editor).

Niko Silvennoinen March 03, 2008 08:17 Flag

Have the same problem with IE6 (version 6.0.2900.2180).
Same happens with People-section also.

Not a bug: linking to your own shots ..

Although definately not a bug (more lack of functionality), but it is quite annoying that you cannot open your own "Shot" straight from your "profile - my shots" page. Instead you have to open the topic, scroll down and then show comments.

Yes, a very good comment there. We'll make shots clickable on My Shots.

Timezones

Not that it'd matter much but maybe there oughta be some way of defining your timezone? I'm at EET+2 but the system thinks I'm EET.

Just an update Olli. We added this to the list but have not gotten to it yet. But it is there. Thanks

Stephen Lee March 14, 2008 21:54 Flag

shot composition

When posting 'a shot', all the composition written in description is lost.
Linebreaks are only applied when there is one empty line between written lines.
This makes text rather hard to read, when there's much of it.

Using opera 9.25

We use subset of "Textile markup":http://hobix.com/textile/. On default only paragraph changes are shown in final result (empty line between two blocks of text).

But as Timo said we are going to improve shot composition.

Timo Vuorensola March 05, 2008 05:06 Flag

Agree. Shot composition is one of the important things we will be working on.

Not a bug...

...but it would be nice to have a possibility to edit your comments also. Now you can only edit Shots...

How about doing what many forums do.. you can edit all you want or delete within a set time, or until someone sees it, after which it is locked.
People often only notice typoes after posting.

Stephen Lee March 02, 2008 21:40 Flag

Thanks Niko. We will consider it. We have been tossing it back and forth as we want to keep a good history and thought that people might be able to make an amendment to a comment but not actually edit it completely.
