Description

Since we havn't any real cool idea for teaser yet, we decided to let the communiy create something.
I 've uploaded some video clip that you find in this files:

http://www.wuala.com/Videoman/StarWreck2pi/Extern/teaser.zip
http://www.wuala.com/Videoman/StarWreck2pi/Extern/teaser2.zip

All files are Quicktime format, Motion-Jpeg with 320x240. You find greenscreens and some 3d preview files. You also find the p_fleet logo inside.

How shall it go: Create a funny teaser and post here. The best one is going to turned by use in to the real teaser with effects and so.

For the music: My sister speficly ask not use techno, rock and pop. Instrumental music is recommended.

Missing something: If you would like a shot seen in one of the InsideOuts or you remember from the shoot, just ask. We can add more stuff.

Any chance for a teaser (of any quality) to be ready shortly?

Hello peeps,

I'm being offered a chance to have a Star Wreck 2pi teaser trailer displayed at the upcoming "STICCON" (Star Trek Italian Club Con) which would be on 20-23 May. It would come in a sequence together with (possibly) Star Wreck: ItP and the Iron Sky trailers...

This does not necessarily need to be serious... some sketches on green screen (like the 2pi insiders videos) would work as well!

All I am asked is that it contains Italian subs and it is provided in mkv format... although on a second thought I suppose this may have been a joke from the organization. Shame on me for not recognizing the joke! ;)

Lacking that, a divx will do nicely. :D :P

Any chances?

Thierry, you want me to send you Antti's voiceover files?

Thierry Gschwind May 03, 2010 15:16 Flag

Kris: Just send me the stuff you made as soon as possible.
Angela: You will get something latest on 17th May...

(null) May 03, 2010 14:58 Flag

Angela, I'll try to do something with Antti's voiceover too.

Thierry, can I use some of the footage you have? Or do you want Antti's voiceover for your own teaser? Or should we both do teasers?

Angela R. May 03, 2010 14:53 Flag

Thank you Thierry!!! Needless to say, the sooner the better. Very sorry I did not come to you with this request earlier, but I seem to have only now made up my mind about flying to Italy for the event (and I still have no tickets!)

Dammit, I need a p-fleet uniform ASAP!!!

Kalle Max Hofmann May 03, 2010 14:47 Flag

Nice going Angela!

:D

Thierry Gschwind May 03, 2010 14:44 Flag

We will put something together. I already have around 2 min of rendered video....

Okay, should I try using the music on my teaser too? I still have to do something with Antti's recordings.

We recorded a lot of material, enough for a trailer too, when the film is nearer to completion. We also recorded him saying "Coming Soon" etc.

Fabienne Gschwind April 21, 2010 20:12 Flag

For the music....I composed it on my own as special "teaser" music...it's why I'm using it here : ))

(null) March 14, 2010 11:32 Flag

Fabienne, you gave us instructions not to use pop/dance music! :D

It's nice to see the new footage. :)

One part I would leave out is Kari falling over in front of Pirk, because it's not clear what is going on without the context.

Thierry Gschwind March 14, 2010 11:08 Flag

The teaser conatin the newest footage which was filmed yesterday.

"Drums" rough cut teaser

Antti, Fabienne and others were a bit worried about the slow pace of my previous shot, and I'm guessing from the lack of thumbs up so were many other people... :) Let's see if this is any improvement. I started with the same structure but went off in a slightly different direction.

I wanted to pack in a lot more action clips but there weren't many available, so I've tried to make the best of what there was. If more action clips appear, they can be very easily inserted into this video.

Fabienne, can you find a PD or CC recording?

If you can provide a music track I can build a teaser around it. :) All of those composers would be well suited to a film trailer I think.

Fabienne Gschwind March 06, 2010 20:38 Flag

I'm just thinking about using a music, which would have a strong contrast to the images and not a kind of "standard-trailer-music".

What would be about using a highly dramatic music. (e.g Grieg, Peer Gynt, Aases Death: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxjw6ZsHjNU&feature=related)

It could just start after the first speech of Pirk. Maybe the slow music would require some "slow-mo" sequences of the flying ships or so...

Would this be interesting?

Fabienne Gschwind March 02, 2010 19:06 Flag

Yes, now it is more "teaser-like"...before it was more like a trailer. Can we try perhpas to use the same music like the first trailer? I liked this one better....

cheers
Fabiennne

Thierry Gschwind February 28, 2010 14:07 Flag

Sure you can use that. Also as Insider you have access to the video of the first two scenes.

(null) February 28, 2010 13:59 Flag

Actually, Thierry, I've just remembered that I still have all those Finnish-language clips of Dwarf and Pirk from the language task. Maybe I could use them in a future update.

(null) February 28, 2010 13:56 Flag

Martin: Great idea! I'll do that whenever this is updated, will wait for a bit more feedback first though.

David: I really hate aspect ratio mistakes too, but it seemed a bit pointless fixing them when the actual effects were missing too. :) Like Thierry says, the aspect ratio can be easily fixed in the editing software. This video is just to demonstrate the general concept.

Angela: ;)

Thierry: The ending was semi-intentional, it was left in there after the previous version but I thought it worked fairly well at the end of this new version too. I think it's important in helping the viewers know what kind of film this is.

Martin Lejeune February 28, 2010 13:14 Flag

I'd move the shot of him falling out the chair to after the shot of the ships going to warp... twist

Thierry Gschwind February 28, 2010 08:50 Flag

For the 4:3 to 16:9 stuff: Actually one must set the editor pixel aspect ration to squenze the files.

Angela R. February 28, 2010 08:45 Flag

"Eeeeeeeeek!" *faints*

Well done Kris. :)

David Jansson February 28, 2010 08:26 Flag

One thing though, they are widescreen shots that have been forced into a 4:3 aspect ratio. (Many people doesn't seem to mind such disproportion, but it really bugs me. As an artist I have this tendency to over analyse perspective and visual relations, so these things tend to jump out at me. While I kind of suck at colour composition I have developed my sense of shape. (But I do go to an art school, and I am working on getting decent with colours as well.))

David Jansson February 28, 2010 08:15 Flag

Thierry: Ending on a humorous note like that is a time honoured tradition, so I would conclude it was intentional.

David Jansson February 28, 2010 08:13 Flag

Damn, your good at this!

Thierry Gschwind February 28, 2010 08:11 Flag

Much better. Alsois that last clip after the title showed up right, or did you forget to remove it ?

Antti, I think I might be going to Tampere Kuplii in a couple of weeks time?

Antti Hukkanen February 27, 2010 15:09 Flag

OK! Do you have a time in mind already? I take it you'll be working with Angela when she comes to Tampere in April, but that's a still month away...

(null) February 27, 2010 12:50 Flag

Antti, I have a pretty good mic intended for voice work, we recorded the Landing radio spot on it. Maybe I can tape you next time I'm in Tampere?

Antti Hukkanen February 27, 2010 12:39 Flag

Sure I can do this. Doesn't look like it'd be too much trouble. The two problems I can foresee are sound quality (unless we can appropriate the sound systems at the office, it'll be down to my Skype headset) and direction (we'd probably have to swap sound files and comments a lot to get the tone just right).
As for the teaser itself, overall I like it a lot, though I think the pacing could be tightened quite a bit. Of course, I realise this IS just a rought cut.

Thierry Gschwind February 27, 2010 12:28 Flag

There is currently no clip whith a great battle, but I started with one. Maybe next week.

Cool if Antti could do the voice. Also Cedric (Captain Stöcklin) has a great trailer voice.

(null) February 27, 2010 11:54 Flag

Jarmo, you mean like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju3h7yk4Hcg

Maybe Antti could start ranting right at the end, and he would fade out just as the 2Pi logo appears.

Jarmo Puskala February 27, 2010 11:36 Flag

I really liked the music, it creates a nice contrast AND it's totally different to anything heard on Star Wreck before.

The texts could be sharpened a bit. Take them even more out there. For example, imagine somehting like:
"The Enemies of peace... will be defeated... crushed, disemboweled, ripped to bloody pieces and fed to the space pigs!"

with Antti starting calm, but getting more frantic towards the end of the sentence... Or something.

David Jansson February 27, 2010 11:19 Flag

Someone with that deep, silly trailer voice?

This is a good trailer!

(null) February 27, 2010 11:14 Flag

By the way, if you do use this teaser perhaps we could persuade Antti to read those texts instead of showing them?

I don't know if he would do it, but we could always ask, or maybe someone else could read them.

(null) February 27, 2010 11:09 Flag

Thanks Seppo!

Fabienne, if I could have a clip of the P-Fleet ships engaging the Dramakulian ships, I could put it just after the "...will be crushed" line.

The last part of the music was stretched anyway, so I can extend the music to cover the clip of the battle.

Seppo Hiltunen February 27, 2010 08:59 Flag

This teaser really has some weird "twistdrive" in it! Thumb up. This teaser might not need more explosions or weapons after those gags with seats and bridge, perhaps more terrified facial expressions and a close up of Dramaculian ship or armada.

Fabienne Gschwind February 27, 2010 08:45 Flag

Yeah...not bad at all, I like very much the contrast of the "calm-peacefull" music to the pictures.
Perhaps at the end, when "the enemies of peace" come in it would be great to add a cascade of battle pictures (only a few frame; for explosion, battle, shooting, dying) just that people get an impression that there will be blood and fights...

Any clips of other characters?

Most of the clips feature Stöcklin or Pirk, could you post a few more scenes with Commander Wüthrich and other characters?

I wanted to do a "two ships... two captains..." kind of thing but Wüthrich is almost totally absent from these clips.

Good point. I will add some clip with Wüthrich, Hans-Peter, Commander Stracciatella, Dwarf, Lt. Kokolainen and some other.
