The teaser was done. Next comes the teaser-trailer.
Description
Since we havn't any real cool idea for teaser yet, we decided to let the communiy create something.
I 've uploaded some video clip that you find in this files:
I'm being offered a chance to have a Star Wreck 2pi teaser trailer displayed at the upcoming "STICCON" (Star Trek Italian Club Con) which would be on 20-23 May. It would come in a sequence together with (possibly) Star Wreck: ItP and the Iron Sky trailers...
This does not necessarily need to be serious... some sketches on green screen (like the 2pi insiders videos) would work as well!
All I am asked is that it contains Italian subs and it is provided in mkv format... although on a second thought I suppose this may have been a joke from the organization. Shame on me for not recognizing the joke! ;)
Thank you Thierry!!! Needless to say, the sooner the better. Very sorry I did not come to you with this request earlier, but I seem to have only now made up my mind about flying to Italy for the event (and I still have no tickets!)
Antti, Fabienne and others were a bit worried about the slow pace of my previous shot, and I'm guessing from the lack of thumbs up so were many other people... :) Let's see if this is any improvement. I started with the same structure but went off in a slightly different direction.
I wanted to pack in a lot more action clips but there weren't many available, so I've tried to make the best of what there was. If more action clips appear, they can be very easily inserted into this video.
Yes, now it is more "teaser-like"...before it was more like a trailer. Can we try perhpas to use the same music like the first trailer? I liked this one better....
Actually, Thierry, I've just remembered that I still have all those Finnish-language clips of Dwarf and Pirk from the language task. Maybe I could use them in a future update.
Martin: Great idea! I'll do that whenever this is updated, will wait for a bit more feedback first though.
David: I really hate aspect ratio mistakes too, but it seemed a bit pointless fixing them when the actual effects were missing too. :) Like Thierry says, the aspect ratio can be easily fixed in the editing software. This video is just to demonstrate the general concept.
Angela: ;)
Thierry: The ending was semi-intentional, it was left in there after the previous version but I thought it worked fairly well at the end of this new version too. I think it's important in helping the viewers know what kind of film this is.
One thing though, they are widescreen shots that have been forced into a 4:3 aspect ratio. (Many people doesn't seem to mind such disproportion, but it really bugs me. As an artist I have this tendency to over analyse perspective and visual relations, so these things tend to jump out at me. While I kind of suck at colour composition I have developed my sense of shape. (But I do go to an art school, and I am working on getting decent with colours as well.))
Sure I can do this. Doesn't look like it'd be too much trouble. The two problems I can foresee are sound quality (unless we can appropriate the sound systems at the office, it'll be down to my Skype headset) and direction (we'd probably have to swap sound files and comments a lot to get the tone just right).
As for the teaser itself, overall I like it a lot, though I think the pacing could be tightened quite a bit. Of course, I realise this IS just a rought cut.
I really liked the music, it creates a nice contrast AND it's totally different to anything heard on Star Wreck before.
The texts could be sharpened a bit. Take them even more out there. For example, imagine somehting like:
"The Enemies of peace... will be defeated... crushed, disemboweled, ripped to bloody pieces and fed to the space pigs!"
with Antti starting calm, but getting more frantic towards the end of the sentence... Or something.
This teaser really has some weird "twistdrive" in it! Thumb up. This teaser might not need more explosions or weapons after those gags with seats and bridge, perhaps more terrified facial expressions and a close up of Dramaculian ship or armada.
Yeah...not bad at all, I like very much the contrast of the "calm-peacefull" music to the pictures.
Perhaps at the end, when "the enemies of peace" come in it would be great to add a cascade of battle pictures (only a few frame; for explosion, battle, shooting, dying) just that people get an impression that there will be blood and fights...

Thierry, you want me to send you Antti's voiceover files?
Kris: Just send me the stuff you made as soon as possible.
Angela: You will get something latest on 17th May...
Angela, I'll try to do something with Antti's voiceover too.
Thierry, can I use some of the footage you have? Or do you want Antti's voiceover for your own teaser? Or should we both do teasers?
Thank you Thierry!!! Needless to say, the sooner the better. Very sorry I did not come to you with this request earlier, but I seem to have only now made up my mind about flying to Italy for the event (and I still have no tickets!)
Dammit, I need a p-fleet uniform ASAP!!!
Nice going Angela!

We will put something together. I already have around 2 min of rendered video....
