Description

We need an image background for the scene which play in the planetary ring.

As you see in the picture there is just a bunch of rock floating around the planet. Specially a view where it becomes denser and denser until it dissolve in what people imagine under a planetary ring which goes around the planet is missing.

We need a backgound for that. Minimal resolution is 1920x1080 but larger is preferred.

Result

Here are the result in high resolution. I made on plane for the dar ring and one just with stones for the near backgound.
Feel free to enhance it.

Particles

Can't you make the rocks with particles? Then you might not need a background image, you can do the whole ring rendered in 3d. It might take a week to render, but the result would be killer!

Edit: I put your background image through the perspective tool in GIMP.

Yes, but it was so very easy to do. So if it improves the overall result you can do it yourself on the final image.

Thierry Gschwind February 18, 2010 06:53 Flag

Thanks, but that was not the definite image, Only quarter resolution.

See edit.

Aah. Well, just render one frame then? If one background image is enough, which I know it is since you said so in this task, that is one way to make it.

Thierry Gschwind February 17, 2010 06:42 Flag

That's exactly what I want to avoid, since it takes already now a week to render that 6s clip, nearly 1h per frame.
We can't use brute force methods in hat movie....

Particle Trick

I tried the Particle trick as David suggested, the result is not that bad.
