Oil tankers & Greenpeace

I started to think this a bit different from Mike's idea, but here's my shot anyway!

How about this:

A huge oil tanker, sailing from Saudi Arabia to the United States, is being kidnapped by the pirates at the coast of Somalia, and the crew and the cargo is taken as a hostage and towed off to a city ruled by the pirates. The pirates threaten to destroy the cargo and the crew if their ransom is not paid.

Two parties are interested - Greenpeace and the owners of the ship, parties that have been fighting each others forever. The ransom starts to rise, and the owners of the ship are reluctant to pay. They decide to try to lure Greenpeace in the operation, make them save a tanker full of oil.

People will never believe it, pirates in motorboats capturing an entire supertanker... something like that could never happen... ;-)

"Pollute This!"

"Pollute This!" tells the story of a world on the brink of extinction. Only one man can save it...

It turns out pollution, green house gases and global warming are not just a result of careless multinational mega-corporations. There's also a sinister terrorist organization P.O.L.L.U.T.E. that's closely tied to these corporations, yet separate.

The WWF, UN and Greenpeace join forces to combat P.O.L.L.U.T.E. But first they have to recruit former Greenpeace environmental terrorist Jack Beret, who's now a fisherman in Canada. Beret's embittered and cynical, doesn't believe the world can be saved anymore. The officials leave Beret's home in despair.

Just then Beret receives an emergency call telling him news of his old girlfriend, Sharon, who's one of the leading WWF scientists battling pollution. She's been kidnapped by P.O.L.L.U.T.E. and only Jack Beret can save her.

But to save her, he has to save the planet as well.

Jack Beret loads his shotgun, puts on his kevlar vest, gets on his solar-powered motorbike, and is about to show those polluting motherfuckers just how hot global warming can really get!

Mother Nature is not alone anymore.

Okay guys, are these two separate projects or only one?
Can someone clarify this?
I am interested in a production presenting a global warming focus. I myself have had some ideas for a production regarding global warming and its consequesces.
I haven't seen any films out there since The Day After Tomorrow. Am I wrong?

Sounds like this might be a little bit like the Maxwell Smart stories? Maybe an action parody of that? Would be pretty cool, a parody of a parody + you could add some very serious stuff as well to confuse people. Heavy mixing of fact and fiction, people would not be sure what to believe and what not. Could be very good at getting discussion going + great way to build community around the production. Maybe you should invite Al Gore to this one now that he is on twitter and everything;-)

Something more?

Hi, I have to say that global warming is a hot topic if any, but I'm very interested to see how it can be made into an action movie. Having seen so many documentaries and hearing so much moralizations about it, it's about time someone made something different.

Could you write more about your project, so we could chip in?
