SCENE 1
The camera focusses on Sample asleep on a bed. The veiw expands and scans the lab; tubes,flashing computer screens and settles on the doorway.
Background noises begin to sound and they crescendo till two people crash through the door. The professor's assistant pulls the professor in, closes and locks the door. Resting the professor against the wall the assistant tries to tend to his wounds.

Professor X,' No.' Brushing her hand aside

Assistant,' Please let me treat your wounds professor'

Professor,' There's no time. You must complete the mission. You must wake Sample. He will get you through '

Assistant,' Are you sure we should do this Professor. You know how I feel about him. He's so..... unpredictable'

Professor X,' We have no choice. He's our only hope'

Assistant,' What if he begins to change'

Professor X,' Then you must eliminate him and complete the mission on your own. Remember, we are all expendable for the sake of humanity'

Assistant,' Maybe I should just go on alone'

Professor,' Just do as I say young lady.He's a good boy and one of our best soldiers'

The assistant walks over to Sample and injects him with a solution.

Assistant,' You know thats not true professor. They don't send us the best.' She slaps Sample on the face,' They send us rejects and has-beens' She tries to slap him again but Sample grabs her hand and sits up. He spots the professor on the floor. 

Professor,' Welcome back, my boy'

Sample,' Professor!. What's happened.' He is helped to the professor's side. The noises start again on the other side of the door. ' What's goin on'

Professor X,' Disaster my boy. The world is on the edge of ruin. There's no time to explain, go with my assistant, she will guide you on your mission ahead.'
The assistant hands Sample his weapons.

Assistant,' You will need these.' The noises get louder.

Sample,' But professor'

Professor X,' You must hurry my boy. No time to waste. You must trust everything my assistant tells you. Now go quickly before it's too late'

SCENE 2

Sample is led through a panel in the wall to a passage. Closing the panel behind them they hear a crash and the Professor scream out. Sample cocks his gun and moves to help the professor but is held back by the assistant and beckoned to follow her. After a period of silence Sample begins to enquire about his mission as they make their way along the corridor.

Assistant,' How are you feeling'

Sample,' My head is still a bit misty'
 
Assistant,' The mist will clear soon. What's the last thing you remember'

Sample,' A dream, I was running along a nudist beach'

Assistant,' I meant when you were last awake'

Sample,'A big needle and the professor '

Assistant,'Of cause,the syrum test, you were extremely dissappointing.The results were negative'

Sample,' Sorry I didn't please you,but if that was the case why was I kept unconcious'

Assistant,' It seemed prudent after the results of the second test'

Sample,' I thought I was unique'

Assistant,' You were unique. In all the tests I attended with the professor you was our only complete failure'

Sample,' You really know how to uplift a guy'

Assistant,' As I was saying ............after your dismal trail we decided to increase the potency of the syrum on a second volunteer. He was screened thoroughly and was deemed to be superior in every way'

Sample,' I bet he didn't have my magnetic personality'

Assistant,' Quite..... He was deemed to have a much greater chance of success. So we injected the syrum and the results were instant'

Sample,' Which were'

Assistant,' Disasterous and uncontrollable. He became some kind of monster attacking the lab technicians and escaping into the compound'

Sample,' My test doesn't sound so bad now. And that's when you woke me'

Assistant,' No. The situation was still tenable but all that was to change. The compound is protected two-fold. Soldiers on a camp annexing the compound and robots in the compound. The robots were instantly activated but something went wrong with their sensors. Instead of attacking the monster they attacked every living thing. The monster, lab staff and the soldiers'

Sample,' So all we have to do is hide out until the soldiers tidy up the mess'

Assistant,' That may be too late. If the monster escapes the compound civilisation will be devastated. You must get me to the main control panel so I can reprogram the robots and regain control of the compound'

Sample,' And the control panel would be....'

Assistant,' On the far side of the compound, in the main building'

Sample,' As if I had to ask'

Assistant,' There's a main conference hall to our right. If we can get through, it will save us much time' She opens a second wall panel ' It's at the end of this corridor'
They draw their guns.

Assistant,' Don't worry, I'm an excellent shot'

Sample,' In that case, how about pointing your gun that way'

 The walls are full of gunshot holes and some lights hanging by their wires casting shadows over the two, would-be, heros. Sample hears scuffling. They are attacked by a monster jumpnig at them from the shadows. A gunfight ensues and after a big struggle the monster is killed.

Sample,' Is that it. Have we killed the monster'

Assistant,' I'm afraid not. The test patient was male'

Sample,' Oh. Yuk! Why would you even be checking there'

Assistant,' That is irrelevant. The fact is, this means the original has infected others'

Sample,' The good news just never stops coming'

Assistant,' I'm afraid so..... look' she indicates a gap through the door.
Sample looks through the gap at the end of the corridor. Monsters are roaming the main conference room.

Sample,' Is there another way' The assistant sits on the floor.

Assistant,' What's the point. It's probably just as infected. I need time to think' She puts her head in her arms. 

Sample,' What about the army. If we can contact them. Maybe they can help us'

Assistant,' We tried. None of the phones are working'

Gunfire errupts from the conference room.

Sample,' Army'

Assistant,' No. Robots are attacking the creatures'

Sample,' Here's our chance. We can climb over them and cross the rafters'

Assistant,' They'll see us'

Sample,'Not if we're quick. Come on'

SCENE 3

They climb upon the rafters but as they climb across Sample's magnetic powers begin to take shape and small bits and bobs start to follow him. Below them a great battle is being fought. As they reach the edge of the rafters all the metal clatters into Sample dropping him to the ground. He shoots his way through the exit to find the assistant already through. They find themselves sandwiched between two robots in front and two monsters behind. A three way fight erupts with the monsters dying first and ending with Sample using his magnetism to throw panels against the robots and then shooting them. They continue their journey through the compound.

Sample,' That was a neat trick you pulled back there. Leaving me in the conference room'

Assistant,' I was afraid, I ran'

Sample,' You wasn't afraid. You scientists are all the same. You think your playing chess. I'll give this piece and take that piece. Well, I'm not a chess piece and this is not chess.It's a real war. If we don't work together we're not getting through this and if you abandon me again I'll garantee you won't.' 

Assistant,' Your right, it won't happen again'

Sample,' Damn right'

The assistant leads Sample to a small room.

Assistant,' We will find food in here and a medic kit' They rest against some desks ' You will need to build up your strength for what lies ahead'

Sample,' Much as I love you piece mealing this mission to me couldn't you tell me just what does lie ahead'

Assistant,'  Fine, from here we take a transport to the main building. The entrance is quite wide so we can drive straight into the main hall. From there we go six levels up to the control centre. I will reprogram the robots and order will return to the compound'

Sample,' And if the robots don't respond'

Assistant,' In that scenario we will activate the self destruct'

Sample,' How do we do that'

Assistant,' You'll like this, once I have entered the security codes you just have to press the great big red button on the main panel. Even you can't miss it'

Sample,' So we're gonna take a transport and take a liesurely drive straight down the main road. Monsters to the left and robots to the right. And instant and painful death at any moment. And that's your plan'

Assistant,' It is'

Sample,' I like it. Who does the driving'

Assistant,' I do, I'm an excellent driver'

Sample,' As good as your shooting'

Assistant,' What's wrong with my shooting'

Sample,' Nothing, but is it'

Assistant,' The transports are this way'

SCENE 4

They scurry into the parking bay where soldiers surround them.

Soldier 1,' Against the wall, now!'

The soldiers take their weapons 

Soldier 1,' Who are you and what is your purpose here'

Assistant,' I'm an assistant to Professor X. We're trying to get to the main control centre to reprogram the robots'

Soldier 2,' You can do that, stop them attacking us'

Assistant,' Yes, I know the neccessary command codes'

Soldier 1,' Follow me'

They are given their weapons and led to a camp holding a small army unit. Several soldiers are shown tending wounds and others tending their weapons. They are led to a  commander  talking to some of his men.

Soldier 1,' Sir, these people were found entering the parking bay. They say they can stop the robots'

Captain,' If this is true. There might some hope for us yet' He becons them closer.' When hell broke lose we had seven whole units move into the compound. We realised too late that the robots had also turned against us. Most were killed and the best the rest of us could do was hole up and secure pockets of resistance'

Sample,' There are others'

Captain,' Yes '

Sample,' Can we contact them'

Captain,'Shortwave only.'

Assistant,' The only way were all going to get out of here is if we can call off the robots, right'

Captain,' It seems so'

Assistant,' Then you and your comrades have to get us to the main control room, agreed'

Captain,' We can try.'

Assistant,' Are your men good soldiers'

Catain,' The best'

Assistant,'Then you'll do better than try'

Soldier 1,' Your beginning to sound like the old man'

Sample,' She grows on you'

Assistant,' How soon can you get a convoy ready'

Captain,' We can be ready in an hour'

Assistant,' Remember every minute counts'

Captain,'We'll be ready'

The captain moves off to make the preparations. Sample pulls the assistant to one side.

Sample,' You don't care who you get killed do you'

Assistant,' What do you mean,'

Sample,' Look at these men, most are wounded and the rest exhausted. And this convoy idea. It's madness. It's just a great big target'

Assistant,' Do you really believe we could have got through just the two of us'

Sample,' Yes.'

Assistant,' Well, I don't'

CUT TO

SCENE 5
 The convoy starts up their engines.

Captain speaking into a radio,' Echo 1 to echo 2 we're all set here' 

Echo 2 replies ,' Situation green,Sir'

The captain switches the channel.' Echo 3 this is echo 1. Are we good to go'

Echo 3 ,' That's affirmative, Sir'

The captain puts his arm out of the vehicle and waves the convoy to move off. The convoy moves carefully into the street.It's littered with wreakages and other debris.

Captain speaking to his driver,' Take it easy till I give you the signal'

Driver,' Yes Sir'

A monster jumps over a wreckage and onto the convoy, and then another and then another.

Captain,' Pump it soldier'

The convoy speeds up racing along the street. The soldiers shooting at the attacking mutants.

The assistant is driving one of the following vehicles with Sample as her passenger.

Sample,' Keep up. Keep up'

Assistant,' I got it. You just concentrate on your shooting'

Sample,' I could concerntrate better if you missed a bump or two'

The convoy turns a corner and drive through a gap where a second unit provide surpressing fire. The second unit then close the gap and holed off the chasing mutants.

As they reach the main building robots move into attacking positions. A third unit attacks the robots drawing their fire. The convoy is able to pass and head for the main building. Sample has to fight off a mutant thats clinging to the car. The assistant then crashes just short of the entrance.

Sample,' Nice parking'

They scramble into the lobby.

Sample,' I'll go first'

Assistant,' No need. Your getting sexist'

Sample,' For me to get sexist you would have to be a woman. A scientist , maybe. Ice Queen, definitely. But I don't think woman makes the top ten '

Sample looks into the main entrance hall,' What do you think'

Assistant,' I think the syrum has effected more than your body'

Captain,' We have to keep moving'



SCENE 6

The whole group moves together into the main entrance hall.

Captain,' Keep together people'

They move forward to the centre of the room until Sample holds his hand up to stop them.

Assistant,' What's wrong'

Sample,' I'm not sure, but I expected robots'

A sound above them alerts the whole group to look up. About twelve monsters are crawling around the ceiling. They fight their way through the room but loose many soldiers on the way. Sample uses his powers to throw debis at the creatures and at one point saves the life of the assistant. After they get through Sample barracades the doorway quickly by use of his magnetism.

SCENE 7

Captain,' Which way now'

Assistant,' We can use the elevator shafts or the stairs. Whichever you think is safer'

Sample,' Look, nothing is safe in this building. I have a better idea'

Under Sample's instruction they place explosives at the centre of the ceiling and punch holes to the next level. They then climb up fighting their way up each level up to level 5.

SCENE 8

Assistant,'It wont work on the next level. It's reinforced all round. The only way in is the front door'

They fight their way to the front door and the assistant stops them at the door.

Assistant,' Shit the guardian has been activated'

Sample,' The guardian. What's that'

Assistant,' A robot'

Sample,' You didn't mention him before'

Assistant,' I didn't want to alarm you. I was hoping it wasn't activated. Give me a moment I''l think of something'

Sample,' It's only one robot. We don't need plans. I'll take care of it'

Sample rushes through. The camera focuses on the foot of the robot and scans up the giant.

Sample,' Holy mother of Jesus' He quickly exits the way he came.

Sample,' OK. We need a plan. A big one'

Assistant,' Size isn't everything'

Sample,' Tell that to Goliath'

Assistant,' Yes, he is Goliath, But he can only attack one target. If we split into groups, keep him occupied while I get into the control room I can deactivate him'

Sample,' We draw his fire and you switch him off'

Sample looks at the assistant for a long moment.

Sample.' We're all going to get through this together, right'

Assistant,' What do you mean'

Sample,' You know my meaning'

Assistant,' I'll do as I say Sample. You get me in and I'll do the rest'

Captain,' People, we're out of time. Let's do this thing'

The soldiers and Sample engage the guardian. The assistant is stopped a couple of times but is helped through to the control room. The group retreat through the door but are attacked by monsters. They engage the monsters waiting for the robot to be deactivated, loosing more men by the minute.

Sample,' The bitch, she's done it again'

Soldier 1,' Again'

Sample,' Never mind.Dammit. Come on'

They attack the guardian. Whittling bits off the giant. Sample sees into the control room and sees the assistant brought down by some robots. He gets very angry and uses his magnetism to attract himself toward the ceiling and onto the head of the giant robot. He blasts the back of the robots head bringing him down. The robots move out of the control room with intention of attacking. Sample with the help of the soldiers moves the arm of the giant robot and fire it's weapon blasting the robots and the control room's doorway.

SCENE 9
The survivors enter the control room just in time to see the wounded assistant press the red button. Sample grabs her.

Assistant,' The codes didn't work. I had to sacrifice us all'

Sample,'I'm fed up with this martyrdom shit. I don't believe in sacrifice how long do we have'

Assistant,' Ten minutes, maybe fifteen'

Sample speaking to the captain,' What's our quickest way out of here'

Captain,' In the words of old man. Pick a window'

They place some proximity explosives and begin to absail from the windows. The assistant strapped to Sample's back Mutants crash into the control room setting off the explosives, blowing out all of the sixth floor. The ropes snap and they fall to the ground.

CUT TO

An exodus of vehicles is shown leaving the compound. As the place explodes,the force of the blast pushes the car Sample is driving and the car stops sideways to the compound. They look onto the ruins and the plumes of smoke.

Assistant,' The professors dream. It's gone'

Sample,' His dream and our nightmare'

The camera focuses on the ruined compound.
