EXT. Colorado - rooftops - 2012 - night We look over a city who looks asleep full of steam in the air. GIDEON a young boy with nicely kept dreadloks runs into frame followed closely by a young girl named Emma. Emma isn’t wearing your typical lady clothes. She is dressed very boyish and not very clean. They both chase each other across rooftops till the reach the edge of a roof. Gideon stops and stares out at the sky with a huge smile. Emma now walks slowly to his side staring at him not the sky. Gideon Tonights the night Emma. They’re supposed to be hundreds of them. I haven't seen the sky this color in my life. Emma still looking at Gideon. Emma How do you know it’s going to happen tonight? GIDEON The architect told me. Emma grabs Gideon’s hand and holds it for a second before she catches herself. Gideon looks over a little shocked. Emma thinks of a cover. EMMA Come on let’s go. GIDEON What why? EMMA I know a better place. They run back across the rooftops to a secluded hilside but a higher spot with no other houses to block the views. EXT. hillside - nIGHT Gideon and Emma roll on the ground overlooking the city and watch the sky. Emma Why do you think they would fall now? GIDEON The meteors? EMMA They’ve been there longer than history and now they decide to come down. GIDEON They're romantics Emma rolls over on her side and is staring right at Gideon who still can’t look away from the sky. EMMA Tell me what you mean. GIDEON They all decide to die together, as a family. I think they couldn’t bear being without one another, so they came here and let all of us watch their beauty. EMMA You think their alive? GIDEON Everything has life. EMMA And you think it’s romantic? They are dying. GIDEON How can you not see that. Look at that and tell me you don’t see something beautiful that love has to play a part in that... Emma jumps on top of Gideon and looks him in the eyes. Just as Gideon starts to kiss Emma he opens his eyes and sees a ship float overhead. He jumps up grabbing Emma and they run into the city. EXT. city - night GIDEON and EMMA both run through the city and everyone is panicked. GIDEON Emma I must take you to your home first. EMMA What about your family? GIDEON After I take you there gather your things and I will go get my mother. They reach Emma’s home. Gideon looks around and sees someone shot about a block away. Gideon looks back at Emma frightened. GIDEON (CONT’D) Grab your things and meet me on the hillside, there's no time to wait for me. Gideon turns to run. Emma calls out for him. EMMA Gideon wait! Gideon turns and rushes back to Emma. GIDEON You need to... Emma kiss him. Once the long kiss is over Emma is in tears and shoves Gideon away and runs inside. Gideon touches his lips for a second and then snaps out of it. Gideon looks around and then runs for his home. EXT. Gideons Home - niGHT Gideon hears screaming and sees a woman run from her home only to be shot in the back. She falls on the ground in front of Gideon who is now hiding in an alleyway. She looks up and tries to crawl over to Gideon. Dying woman Gideon please... Gideon scared slowly begins to reach his hand out to help the dying woman but she is once again shot and she falls limp on the ground. Gideon pulls himself back into the alley in fear. Gideon sees a pirate step out of the house the woman ran from. The pirate looks around and begins to head towards Gideon’s house with 3 other pirates that put what they got from the woman’s home in a net that sits in the middle of the road. One pulls on the net and it gets yanked up to the ship. Gideon is almost frozen in fear as the pirates enter his home. Gideon looks down and sees the dead woman on the ground has two swords in her hands with guns for handles. He picks them up and rolls the woman over and crosses her hands over her chest and closes her eyes while speaking to her. GIDEON I will avenge you. Gideon still kneeling kisses the gun swords he has picked up and heads into his home. INT. giDEONS HOME - cONTINUOUS Gideon walks in and stabs the first pirate in the back. The pirate falls to the ground and Gideon sees his mom in a corner trying to fight off the other pirates. He runs for them as they turn and notice him. He blocks the first pirates swing at him with both blades crossed he kicks the other pirate back. Gideons mother Gideon! Gideon blocks a gun that's being pointed at his head. The pirate still gets a shot off, Gideon gets shot in the leg but it’s not to bad. Gideon falls to one knee and uses his low angle to plunge one sword into the pirate that shot him then one into the other Pirate. Gideon with a sword in each pirate glares at the main pirate and twists both blades and then pulls the triggers on both guns sending the dead pirates to the ground. Gideon goes to stand only to be shot by the main pirate who then drags Gideons mother by her hair out of the house. Gideons mother screams for her son. Gideon is laying on the ground breathing heavy but can’t speak. He reaches for his mother and they almost touch hands but miss barley as she is dragged away. Gideon starts going in and out of consciousness. Gideon can barley make out that someone enters his home. GIDEON Who are you? Gideons vision is blurry but as the frail grey haired old man gets close he recognizes it’s The Architect. The Architect grabs something out of his bag that looks like a and fireplace bellow with canisters attached to it. The architect puts his finger into the hole in Gideons chest and the sticks the machine into the hole into Gideons chest. Gideon scream in pain but the Architect holds him down and then uses the tool to suck the bullet out of Gideon. The Architect flips a switch on the tool and then blows lots of piping hot steam into the hole. The architect steps back and Gideon jumps up yelling in pain. GIDEON (CONT’D) What was that? The Architect It will heal you quickly. Gideon holds his chest where he was shot. No blood is coming out. GIDEON Where did they take my mother? THE ARCHITECT Cogsmith took her. Gideon grabs both of his weapons and runs out of the building. EXT. city streets - cONTINUOUS Gideon runs down the street looking for any pirates still around only to find people dying or injured in the streets. He sees 3 of the 4 ships and notices 2 are starting to take off. He runs for the 3rd one that's still anchored down. EXT. streets - cONTINUOUS Gideon comes upon some pirates that are loading the last of things into a net. They both step into the net and are about to yank but they both get tackled by Gideon. Gideon punches one and then runs to the net and yanks it and begins ascending into the sky away from the pirates. One of the pirates pulls a crossbow from his back and fires it at Gideon, it has a harpoon attached to it and it gets tangled in the net. Gideon uses his swords to cut the net. When he finally cuts the net everything inside begins to fall out and he looses his footing he grabs the net with his bad arm. Gideon looks down to see the pirates get smashed by all the stolen goods. Gideon can’t hold on. He falls to a nearby roof nearly knocking the wind out of him. EXT. rooftop - contINUOUS Gideon sees the anchor lifting from the ground and runs to the end of the roof and flies through the air and barely makes it smashing into the heavy metal anchor. Gideon finally gets a better grip only to have the anchor smash through the roof of a home. Gideon falls onto the roof and has to run to catch up with the anchor that is now dragging across the roof. He gets a hold of it and it swings through the air as it quickly rises towards the boat. As it gets closer to the airboat it speeds up. Gideon looks over to another airship to see the anchor make it to the top and it is pulled violently into a hole in the side of the boat. Gideon now has to figure out what he’s going to do when the anchor gets to the top. Gideon positions one foot on each side of the curve of the anchor and straddles it. Once it gets to the top Gideon jumps and with the speed from the anchor he flies high into the air and gets caught in a rope ladder on the mast. He looks down and no one notices him
