Alright, now I downloaded the files, didn't touch them (as I didn't want to mess them up) and uploaded straight to the original task. Hope it works now :D
Okay! I think I've fixed it now, even the last few boxes have gone.
The text encoding that seems to work best is UTF-8, it even works for Chinese characters.
Ok, then. Could you Kris do the same conversion to other files?
I had been using WordPad to work on my translation due to past issues with the Italian accented letters, so I had not noticed any problems with the line breaks...
Anyhow, Kris' new file seems to also work in the browser.
Just let me know if I can make any additional tests for you guys.
Tianyi, yes, I get those weird characters as well if I view through the browser, but there are only a few of them now and if people are replacing the lines anyway they should delete them at the same time.
BTW, all I did was open the file in Wordpad, copy it to Notepad, then save it in Notepad. For some reason that makes the formatting more durable.
For the most part it seems to work. And directly inside the browser. With even correct line breaks (although I think the browser is not the same as notepad).
However, there are still some weird characters with question marks lying around here and there...
Edit: those question marks seem to be characters "-" at the end of a line when the dialogue is going to continue in the next one. This may just be an encoding issue, so not anything big... God I hate different standards! :D
Tianyi, try clicking on the test file I just uploaded to my shot. It seems to work ok for me, if it works for others maybe you could use it?
Yeah actually that is a known issue as well. For some reason, notepad doesn't recognize the line breaks which is annoying. At first I though the file itself is indeed corrupted but it opened fine in other editors.
I dunno what to do here. I guess u just shouldn't use notepad. Angela, any problems on your side?
Actually it seems to be all of them that have this problem.
By the way, if I download it with "save as" it looks fine, but the line breaks don't work in Windows Notepad. The breaks are there in Wordpad, but Notepad is the default application for text files in Windows so that's the one people are most likely to see/edit this in.
I'll attach a second image to my shot so you can see what I mean.
Was it only the English version that is acting up? I guess I could try re-uploading it.
Edit: Ok now I re-uploaded it but it's still not working for me to open them directly in the browser. I tried other languages and it's the same. I guess you'll just have to download them :/
Ah yes, thanks Angela and Tianyi, downloading it with "save as" does work.
Just out of interest, could you try reuploading the english file? You should be able to add new media without altering the task.
Yeah I think I encountered the same problem. Should change the description to urge people to download instead of open directly.
The file was alright when the task was originally created... anyway I just have tested it and it seems corrupted when opened through the browser. When saved on the desktop, however, it appears to still work perfectly.
