Newspaper boysGet some kids to dress up to scouting uniforms or something that looks like the uniform of hitler jugend. They could act as newspaper boys (you know, EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL 'BOUT IT!) and giving these old newspapers. Headlines are screaming that nazis are coming from space or something like that. You could mix current news with that (why do you think US is building missile shield in the Europe at the moment?). I know that these kind of newspaper boys were mainly used before the first world war.. I don't know if they were used anymore in the 30's... |

Fantastic idea, and I like the idea of promoting War Bonds in the fictional paper.
I don't think a uniform is entirely necessary, just an outfit from the time period would be enough to grab people's attention.
By far, one of the best ideas, though you need to be really careful with this so that A) anyone won't get arrested B) you or the movie won't be flagged as pro-Nazi. However, if you manage to steer around those rocks this should create nice buzz for the movie.
You need to make really clear to the viewer that, from the first words, it's obvious that it's not pro-Nazi, since single minded persons will only glance the thing and judge it as such. The problem with this is that it only takes couple of these persons, in right places, to get the word going and after that I fear you'll be having hard time to get anyone interested.
This can be coupled with the war bond idea, as the leaflet should contain some ads, so why not one promoting the war bonds?
This one has my vote! definately you have to print a small brochure about the film disguised as an 1940´s newspaper. Abit similar marketing that was used with Metal Gear Solid 4.
A fine idea indeed! Just be careful, the costumes must NOT be Scouting uniforms or the strong Scouting Associations will definitely sue. Hitler Jugend is understandably something they do not wish to be identified with... (They were forced to stop functioning and start being Hitler Youth back then, though, so it could be only natural now, but I doubt their sense of humour would stretch far enough.)
So, do it a bit harder way and get the uniforms from elsewhere. Scouting uniforms in different countries differ a lot and without the Scouting badges some of them could easily be used, without the bad connotations in Cannes. Maybe they should have a slight "futurized" look in them, together with the easily identifiable design? That would be a nice touch, yes?
I really love it! I think it is one of the best ones I have heard so far
Making it a four page tabloid with a large enough a print (say, 20 000?) and further making it available on the net you could easily pass everyone all the information on Iron Sky you like. Plus those funny looking space nazis wandering everywhere in the crowd passing the news to everyone interested should certainly catch everyones attention. Just make sure you hire a legion of them in advance.
Hey, do use this idea together with the one I just suggested at the main Star Wreck site! I suggested making a modernized version of the old "Der Stürmer" newspaper of the nazis, with the title and texts changed appropriately to reflect the space time, but with an obvious resemblance to the original. You just need to be careful you make it clear you aren't pro-nazi ideology. If you do it correct, that may quite possibly make HUGE publicity even!

Haha, this is a great idea. I'd take it would be something different as well - the whole paperboy idea.
This is a marvellous idea! I think newspaper boys passing news leaflets about nazis to people would be a funny and effective promotion idea.
