Das Gänsespiel

According to wikipedia, the game of the goose was commercialized since the 1890s.

This also came to mind thinking of the variety of dusty old boxes with ancient-fashioned graphics my (trekkie) grandmother owned! What a woman, she was! ^^

I suppose in a way you could see this as a reminder of home? The greenery, animals and traditional clothing?

Well, it *is* a classical board game. There may be some bored and somewhat childish soldiers entertaining themselves with it... ^^

I had that boardgame too, the curvy one at the bottom. I think it was a traditional game in Britain in the late Victorian era, perhaps borrowed from Germany or vice versa.

Regarding its use in ISOH, it looks very pretty but is perhaps too childish for a base entirely made up of soldiers? (I'm assuming there are no families in Antarctica?)
