I agree with both of you, they're great for reference (and thus very welcome), though we probably shouldn't use anything from that site directly for anything else than inspirational use, just in case.
Still, for most of those pictures it might be possible to find the same images from other sites with better information on their source and real copyright status (and thus more lenient license).
Thanks again both of you for your outstanding effort, you've been a world of help to the production already. :)
No offence Carl, and I totally agree on the inspiration order. I just wanted to use the one with the eagle on it, but with the sites commons that makes it virtually impossible (at least not without risks because copyrights can last up till 1925 in some cases).
The Bundesarchiv are such a 'fun' guys too, with the kind of licence they give out an artist can basically do nothing with it (at least nothing commercial).
I know it's all legislative mambo jumbo, and i don't like all this lawyers Scheiße myself but hey what can we do? Better play safe is my advice.
That license refers to the site. Those images were posted to it, but are far older (30's and 40's). So basically don't sell a copy of that site, and/or that thread.
The inspiration order still stands, or have you heard anything to the contrary?
Awesome reference once again, thanks Carl! These are precious!
Kris: Yeah, we won't stress that too much, especially in the visual medium. Many of the Nazis will be serious racists, naturally, but they don't really have that much need for anti-semitistic propaganda in a base far away from anyone who isn't of "pure blood".

(the 'order still stands' was a Cheney quote, spoken on Sep 11 2001 mere minutes before the Pentagon strike)

Unfortunately their image usage rights are quite constraining: Attribution, non-commercial and no derivative works.

"And indeed, Kris, those men holding hands are pretty cute together when you think of it. "
Well, it wasn't just that, but the two soldiers behind them staring into each other's eyes... (sigh) :)
Almost reminds me of that scripted event I submitted in the other task.

Absolutely love the eagle in the 5th poster.
And indeed, Kris, those men holding hands are pretty cute together when you think of it. ^^
Carl, that's a very comprehensive collection, well done.
Maybe the game should steer clear of the anti-semitism ones, partly because they may cause legal problems in some countries.
By the way, this poster:

...looks like an advert for a gay club. :D
