"What ifs"

What if - The heroine was pregnant at the time she was turned and lost her child because of being turned, hence she bears a deep yet almost forgotten hatred of vampires in general or at least the one who turned her because he/she knew she was pregnant and also knew it would kill her unborn child.

What if - in addition to the above, she feels some sense of self loathing because in the process of turning it was her own body that killed the fetus by feeding on it thus causing its death. (almost like cannibalism of a child by its mother) And although she had no way of protecting the child she feels guilty and repulsed by what happened, and she has hunted for the one that turned her ever since. And has made a vow to kill the one responsible for turning her.

What if - it was her parents/friends/someone she trusted... who in fact caused her to be turned through some accidental action/inaction etc. etc.

Anyway just a few thoughts...

Yes, but you can't show the fetus being consumed by the body... because it happens inside. And having some doctor or nurse say "by the way, your body is consuming your fetus" is... well, difficult. Same her telling someone, "you know, when I was turned, my body conusumed my unborn child"...Unless it's written and acted out in an academy-award worthy manner, it will probably not come across too well ^_^

Perhaps a scene in which her feelings bursts out uncontrollably or the story could include cut-scenes periodically of her reminiscing about it. this way the event and her feelings about it is played out for the viewers but not spoken per say.

Hehhe this is really in my line of thinking, as *minor spoiler warning* I wrote some similar side story into SNOWBLIND ;D

So unless this should become some trademark, it might be a bit much to use it again.

Still I especially like the feeling of guilt by the body feeding on the own offspring. Could be difficult to carry across in a film, as you could only tell it by having a character say it, which isn't as powerful as using that idea in a novel for example.

We should definitely explore feelings of guilt and accusation in this story of war and "race"-related hatred!
