King Olaf / Veil of Iron

The operatives have decided to combine two stories that have similar elements.

King Olaf

King Olaf returns to Norway converted to Christianity. He’s forced to balance between the old and new religion because many of his royal blacksmiths still believe in Thor. The king tries to maintain good reations to neighbouring countries, but finally he’s forced to exile because Knut the king of Denmark demands old regions back and wants the norwegians to pay taxes. The king returns to fight to get the order back but is killed in Stiklestad battle. The royal blacksmiths crush their swords to pieces because they are now against all wars.

Veil of Iron

The veil of iron is a story about a blacksmith who promises to make weapons for the local nobles from the new, strong steel that he has invented. One day his shop burns down and he is forced to face the reality of the ordinary people who are being tormented by the nobles with the weapons he has made. The blacksmith decides to help the people by making them tools from his special steel.
