The Opera by You -team is looking for your ideas and comments. Join and show your support for Opera by You.  Opera Space OperaI have always wanted to a see a REAL Space opera. An Opera Space opera. Epic stylistic space shots could be made in advance and projected on a big screen in the background. Imagine a space ship coming in over an exotic planet on the3 screen, then the screen changes to a simplified alien landscape or is hidden by props completely, and the ships landing struts, only, come into view as physical props. A space station location could be implied by using simple, brightly lit, featureless straight lines and right angles. The costume design from The Lion King on Broadway shows us how Alien designs could work.

I saw the original Star Treck The Movie (V'ger-story) as an (almost wagnerian) opera without singing. I think Jerry Goldsmiths glorious, colouful music and the story could easily be adapt to the stage. But adaptingexisting material of course isn't what we are after here.
Also, many stories, probably most of the suggested ones, could be fitted into the space opera genre. Treasure planet is an example, even if I personally would have preferred a harder science fiction take.
yes and the stage lights could easily made to match the video images.
