Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA

Yes, it's famous as a pro-American anthem but how many people realise that it isn't?

The lyrics actually talk about someone losing their job, being abandoned by society and imply that the Vietnam war was a racist one. Yet so many people think it's some kind of brainless nationalist track...

As a side-note, I believe Springsteen has forbidden any politicians from using the song at rallies, so if you hear it played it means the politician concerned is breaking copyright law.

Obviously this song would be extremely expensive to use in any project so I understand why you wouldn't, but thought it might be interesting to know how a single song can simultaneously belong to totally opposite political camps.

Inneresting, indeed! The costs for American music are indeed too high, especially these pop classics. I hear just getting to rights to the songs can take months and months of work, even if you could pay for them.
