Character animation

I am currently working to figure out character animation on simplified Stick figures. When that project is done I might be mature enough to figure out this one. I use Blender.

I watched the exterior animation you had done. Googling revealed that Carrara has a graph editor, blenders equivalent to the IPO curve editor, using bezier curves makes it easy to have smooth motion, it will help you get a less jerky motion.

The biggest advantage with open source software is that there are so many tutorials and documentation freely available. When I searched for Graph tutorials for Carrara I didn't find anything useful, except possibly a DVD with tutorials that cost money...

Because of this it is a lot easier to learn advanced software if it's open source.

When the Lazy Sue is exported as a obj all the hinged points go away on the model, as well as its skins.

I can see if any of the other export options might work. (3DS)

I should get Blender again and see what I can do with it. (Export to and use.)

Lee: Peter has a very good point. I think this fact alone would make it worth for you to learn Blender.

There also exist a free program called Wings 3d. Since it's open source I don't doubt that there will be interoperability sooner or later.

Always best if we can go with open source & free tools like Blender, then the community that has access to the tools is so much bigger.

Nice. Can Carrara export to a format Blender can import? I think I could do some nice things with that space ship.

Thanks for your interest, we can see what we can get into.

I got blender and tried using and had trouble. Learning curve. I still had it with Carrara and it would have been cheaper to have gone with blender.

Believe it or not I found a number of free tuturials on youtube for Carrara and Daz has a few on there site too.

I'll look into the graph editor.
