The next planetary alignment...

I'm not sure all 9 planets can ever exactly align, because the orbits are slightly tilted (and Pluto's incredibly so).

However, if I remember correctly, the Voyager missions were launched to take advantage of a rare alignment of the planets that only takes place every 175 years.

Voyager 2 was launched on 20 August, 1977, and followed 16 days later by Voyager 1.

That would make the next alignments take place in 2152, 2327, 2502, and so on...

In that case, let's go for the ones after that.

I am no astrophysicist but if I understood correctly several sources documentaries, articles and so forth the next would be, unfortunately, in 2012, according to occidental Gregorian calendar which is part of the hike.
Double check though

Thanks very much! I might not recommend the very first near future possibility, only so as to afford time for Post Human migration and population of the Solar System. That's how there can be encounters with veritable aliens and strange cultures on every planet.

Or, then again, have they been out there all along, unsuspected by us?

Or perhaps, time dilation will be a factor somehow?
