The BOOK: Son of Man -team is looking for your ideas and comments. Join and show your support for BOOK: Son of Man. Emo & Finnish musicAlright, I won't be choosing music that I consider good or bad or even tolerable to listen to, just anything that goes with the themes you mentioned. Dystopia/judgement day: Project Pitchfork - In the Year 2525 (Laibach has the prettier version but the harsh sound fits better I think) Emo/depression/living in the 2000's/Jesus complex: KMFDM - Stray Bullet (also known as the Jokela amok run song) More emo: Jimmy Eat World - Cautioners Also, I notice a lack of Finnish music. First of all the indie rap artists: Steen1 - Sinisiä rappuja ja punaisia hintalappuja (featured in the movie Paha maa)
Then the classics you couldn't avoid in the 80's.. Dingo - Lähetyssaarnaaja
The few religion themed Finnish songs I could think of right away: Freud Marx Engels & Jung - Monenkirjava tilkkutakki

Fine list, Anna. Great job finding fitting Finnish music.
I'm sick and tired of the artists, but many of the songs are just beautiful.
Well, the song Lapsuuden usko has been covered by several artists, it's originally '500 Miles' that was done by at least The Hooters. Just the version I happened to find.
Mikko Leppilampi? What kind of man do you take me for?! :)
Glad that you liked those, may I suggest more of the same genre then:
Pekka Ruuska - Anna mun etsiä
Mikko Leppilampi - Lapsuuden usko
Edu Kettunen - Lentäjän poika
Miljoonasade - Lapsuuden sankarille
Hector - Lumi teki enkelin eteiseen; Olen hautausmaa <-- check out the lyrics, he sings "Olen Jeesus-lapsi ilman Mariaa.. olen Raamattu uus".
edit: Samuli Edelmann - Kirkossa
Don McLean - American Pie
Simon & Garfunkel - Mrs. Robinson
Great list, thanks Anna!
I've added all I could find on the Spotify playlist that you can access here: http://open.spotify.com/user/revontuli/playlist/4fpOVEAOnU8ayxZGrnV84K
Unfortunately In the Year 2525 could be found as neither PP or Laibach version...
Stray Bullet I'm gonna save for another project (also a book in the works) since this book ends in 2004 and the Finnish school shootings came later...
Special kudos for Rafaelin enkeli and Sudenkorento, they're great for this!
