Wow!! The second fighter looks very mean!
And it is modular :) If one of the guns gets blown up, the pilot can still use the other ones. Excellent! I wouldn't like to meet these ones in the dark corners of the universe..
I've posted a personal concept (Work in progress).
A "light" recon fighter... Too fast for you! ;)
Only a cockpit equiped with sensors, light lasers and 4 bomber modified engines.
The design was done by Dag Øivind Undseth (a non-active wrecker from Oslo). He stopped modelling on that design, because he thought it would not work out.
But if Yann's creativity it worked out at last.
On the spot, again!!! A-Wing came into my mind as well. But Yann's cool design is narrower and with a lotta hull for an agile fighter.
To me, it looks more like a missile-packed straight-shooter. Not a manouvreable scout-like fighter. More of an F-14 Tomcat (long range weapons platform) than a mobile interceptor.
There's a lot of hull space for heavy ammunition. There's little need for much fuel, so the side 'wings' could be filled with rapid firing missiles. There could be some sideways movement with the side thrusters, but it just doesn't look like an agile and manouvrerable fighter.
So i would go with this fantastic design as a support fighter.
If you can't do another light fighter design, I'd be fine with it, though :) One fighter per fleet is quite enough!
I mean, in space, you can make things turn around on a dime without considering all the air resistance and all that bother. So the slim shape is no hindrance in actual mobility, even though in this day's viewers' mind it may seem so.
(Again, Yann, I don't how you do these designs so fast! Just don't get employed with a time-consuming employer before all the designs are in;)
Is it modular? If one wing is ripped off, the other wing could also be dropped off and the middle part could carry on as nothing had happened..
An idea: how about having two pilots, one on top of each wing. If one gets killed, then the other could drop the damaged parts and continue fighting alone..
Another idea: perhaps two of these ships could be glued together to double/triple the arm power. If the other ship is lost, the other survives.

These designs are interesting work.
The concepts are original and the designers are to be congratulated.

Yann, that second design is great too!
It also matches the general style of the modular Dramkulian ships, so it is consistent with the setting.
The second one looks like one bad mo fo! Fantastic and original design.
Having guns firing from four sides would be awesome. It would blind the pilot, sure, but with all that firepower, who cares?
That second fighters loks cool...

Ahaaa.... okay, well done Dag!
And well done again to Yann for making the unworkable workable.

Ahaa... well, great sketch Thierry! :)
Thanks!
I'm not the author of the sketch.
Thierry sent it to me.
Indeed, it looks like a Star Wars fighter.
"Again, Yann, I don't how you do these designs so fast!"
I know! And they're not rough designs either, they're good solid things that look like they were planned over months.

I could imagine this as a really fast fighter weaving in and out between bigger ships, like in the battle at the end of Return Of The Jedi.
It would look particularly cool if this fighter does a lot of spinning to avoid being hit... :)
Cool! Reminds me a bit of the classic Star Wars "A-Wing" fighter....
That looks cool, very agile!
