So, I've tried to make an animation, it's in the main post.
Making animations is fun, but it takes a lot of time...
I prefer base modeling and concept searching.
:)
As Kris says, try Blender. We are also working on the Open Rendering Environment (ORE) and that is supporting Blender as well. http://renderfarm.fi has a bit more info on that one.
Yann, I'm not an expert on 3D so I don't know if this is good enough, but a lot of people on here seem to recommend Blender. It's free so there's no harm in at least trying it:
I'd like too!
But i'm using a free modeler "Wings 3D" and it does not support animations.
If you know a good free renderer which can uses particles and atmospherics systems, please, gimme the link!
Software licenses are too expensive for me. :(
It is near of the actual US space shuttle concept.
During the launching sequence the shuttle is just linked to the main rocket / boosters without any shield or protections.
It's just an aerodynamic and mechanical constraints challenge.
So, as you said, we could imagine a large rocket nose wich protect the carrier too. ;)
Yann - I wonder if the rocket - which obviously will break up into a multi-functional pod as well might not destroy the 'space ships' at the nose upon traveling as thousands of miles an hour?
Perhaps the space ships might be housed so as not to put undue strain on their moorings?
totally realistic concept of a functional, though overly specialized, bridging device... (regrarding oskar's insightful comment)
this is exactly the kind of projects that money burning pseudo - military committees churn out - until their all destroyed in the opening stages of the war...
Thanks for your comments. :)
It's a launcher which could do only one task: Carrying shuttles from ground to space, like a rocket with satellites.
It can't really do maneuvers.
We can imagine it on the top of a big rocket when launching.
Aeroflot power! ;)
Great concept. Like how the fighters are attached to the mother ship. The only thing I was wondering was how the mother ship make sharp turns when all the rocket engines are at the end.

Thank you Peter!
Yann, great job with the animation, looks amazing for you just "trying" some animation. Very cool!

Thanks a lot!
I'll try it now.

Would be really cool to get those things animated.

I don't think it matters whether this is 100% realistic, the important thing is that it's plausible enough to appear in the film.
Thank you!
I've added a pic of the ship in pre-launching status.
It's more clear than long explanations and my english is too bad for that!

great shot.

Very cool! Like the Aeroflot in there;-)
LOL, didn't notice that.
Ha ha...Aeroflot :-)
