or a pilot for a cross country show for MTV or something 'punky'...

better than a classroom - could be a 'field trip' - a cross country trip in a car...

And beyond all of Bob's suggestions, she should always sound correct -
even if her grammar is a bit more complex than traditional English...

This might prove an interesting wrinkle to Jani's suggestion...

Perhaps if she sounds imperial, (ie. super sanitized) the writer won't *only* have to rely on imperialist humor...
