Wrecker's Ball 2010 > Let's Get Started! - Balls/Brainstorming! > On-the-spot wrecking/competition
by: Eric Vogel

This is perhaps obvious, but how about a competition or live wrecking for one or more projects? Something physical, if possible. Iron Sky had a prop design workshop back in '08, which I found pretty cool: http://blog.starwreck.com/2008/11/01/the-swastika-machine-workshop/ We'll have to look through current projects (worldwide) and their respective tasks to find something suitable to do in a live/social setting. I can pledge some nifty Norwegian Ninja stuff as prizes if there's a competition.

There are several good locations for an arrangement like this, of the top of my head:

(Very good venue for an arrangement like this in my opinion)

Quite an intriguing idea there! And Norwegian Ninja prizes would be really fantastic! My only concern is that the task would haveto be something 'easy' and nothing too big. Perhaps this could be voted on, from any wrecka production!? The one with the most votes gets a practical hands on live wrecking ;) Eventho this would be a local event, there is no reason why we couldn't involve other wreckers. Even helping them out, from a diffrent geographical location - LIVE! Great stuff!

This is an event for you, by you and likeminded people & wreckers like yourself! The general idea is having a Wrecker's Ball and meet up in Oslo this summer. Meet up, talk shop, enjoy ourselves and have an all'round good time! The project is as of yet just on the idea stage, so sharpen your pencils and lets get this thing started! Cheers! 'Fakenham

Wrecker's Ball 2010 > Let's Get Started! - Balls/Brainstorming! > Avoid overlap with Wreckamovie Festival?
by: (null)

The Wreckamovie Festival ( http://www.wreckamovie.com/festival/ ) is happening from 16th-18th of July, so it might make sense to keep the two events as far apart as possible to avoid splitting the audience? Some people may only have enough money for one trip, it would be a shame if they were forced to choose between these two? :/

As long as you don't pick the exact same date, I don't see a problem here. I personally think it's great if we have lots of Wrecking events all over the planet, not everybody can travel, so great to have events close to the people. Sounds like it would make sense to have the Wrecker's Ball close or at the same time as the Øya Festival (Aug 10-14) if that is gathering a lot of people anyway? Also, I think that a good rule of thumb for all the events, no matter where they take place, would be to have them in English. That way both the locals and the visitors can get the most out of them. And let's also be clear that we don't want to have any distinction between new and old wreckers, everybody is welcome and the spirit of Wreckamovie is always one of maximum openness. I think it's great that we are even having this discussion, having potentially overlapping events is a positive sign, there's more and more wrecking happening all the time, and I hope we will see many many more events and activities in the future. Even overlapping at times. Great stuff!

Kris S. - Well, the thing is.. this is an open source kind of thing, free for all, none excluded! We should however perhaps emphasize more on the fact that this is a local event. Besides, we started wrecking this thing just today! I spent no more than 10 mins on that poster. We really needed some catching eyecandy! Still less than perfect, not final product if you ask me.. ;)

Well, it was mainly the poster and production being in English that sort of threw me, wondered if you wanted to attract people from abroad?

Here is my proposition for the target audience in Oslo: -passive fans and other curious people of hobby-movie-making, wreckamovie and also norwegian films like "norwegian ninja", but these peoples are not soooo interested in this mater, that they would go to a farer place then their home city... any other proposition?

Hey there, Kris S. - I would haveto say that this event is aimed at people IN OSLO (or willing to come to Oslo) since the Idea is to have the event here. The target audience would be people that love and/or are involved with film. And that are both familiar with wreckamovie, or new to the wreckamovie platform.. I think the essential ingredient would be socializing, meeting people and 'talking shop' ;D Hope that cleared things up a little more for you!
