Vampyre Princess 3D > Concept Artwork Wanted > Vampire Princess Concept
Dear Fellow Wreckers, due to the rising interest in Snowblind and our efforts in stereoscopic 3D filmmaking, more and more requests about Vampyre Princess 3D keep coming in. For example, we were just asked to join a forum discussion about crowdfunding on this project. Unfortunately, we didn't have the requested amount of Artwork for them to put together a presentation. Big Bummer. So once again, we ask the mighty force of wreckers who have often served us as a Deus Ex Machina - If you got skills at illustrating, painting, photographing and/or photoshop, gimp/maya/3dsmax or whatever your weapon of choice is... MAKE US SOME VAMPYRE ARTWORK! Characters, Locations, Monsters, Vehicles... You like it, you design it! To give you at least some starting aid, I'll attach a .zip of some pics from Snowblind, featuring our fabolous set twins... maybe you can turn them into gothic princessess ^_^ Wreck Away, The K-Man

Vampyre Princess 3D > Your Favourite Vampire References > Let The Right One In
Please share with us your favourite bloodsucking moments in films, books and graphic novels! These can range from imagery to story arcs, and even include other genres to showcase (for example) great action/suspense/romance moments we should honour by building on them, paying hommage or just plain copying them ;P Also we can use this task to discuss the various existing vampire movies to determine what we like, what works and of course what should better be abandoned! Sink your teeth into this, Kalle-Max ^_^

A couple of weeks ago, I finally watched the original version of "Let The Right One In", still questing to see all movies on that "Top 10 Vampire Movies" list I had compiled (see below).

Unfortunately, I have to say I didn't really like the film. I realize this kind of makes me a minority as everyone seems to love the film.

But I thought it was just loooooong and not really interesting. To me, this problem originates from the fact that on the one hand, they completely relied on most of the available Vampire myths... they did not explain them, so they presume people already know them. But if they know them, nothing comes as a surprise and the whole film is pretty predictable. Even worse, they try to create excitement by putting these well-known vampire characteristics into our ordinary, everyday (boring) life. This works kind of okay for a while, but there are three events in the film that feature outburst of violence or disgust that are so completely exaggerated, and come in combination with sub-par makeup/CGI effects, that they totally destroy this approach - these scenes are just way too unbelievable.

On the other hand, everything is happening so extremely sloooow to the point where it was painstaking to me. And another totally strange fact is the kind of pedophelia going on with the film, okay I mean the main character is a centuries-old vampire girl, but still she is in the body of a fifteen-year old or something. So there were some scenes I had to find pretty awkward or even shady.

But who knows, maybe y'all are a bunch of pervs who gave that film an 8 on IMDb for exactly that reason ;P

No no, just kidding, and I think I can understand why many do like the film, probably mostly for its slow pace and (most of the time) realism. But to me, movies are mostly about escapism, so I can't be bothered watching stuff that reminds me of everyday life all the time ;D

I gave the film a 5/10, I hope no-one will take this personally ^_^

...the vampires need to take over a submarine! Yeah, that's from 'Mars needs Moms', but subs are confined spaces, and there's the 'Wilhelm Bauer' up in Bremerhaven... Daylight has a hard time reaching most areas underwater, lots of uncharted regions and possible archeological finds down there. There's an alternative theory on Atlantis, that takes the ice-age into account. Turns out that during the last one, the seas had receeded, and lots of coastal regions were larger than now. The English Channel was one of these areas, and the Rhine river flowed through there. If you put these facts into the existing descriptions on the location of the fabled continent, then you can deduce that it just might have been England, and that the forefathers of the Celts were the original atlanteans. Go figure, the runes, and some customs used by them are prevalent in many ancient cultures across Europe. So anyways, there's lots of stuff underwater, and maybe the story could revolve around it in a sort of Sci-Fi setting. Maybe there's an ancient atlantean underwater-underground cave with a sprawling city that was cut off during the great flood at the end of the ice-age. Maybe explorers find it, and their sub gets hijacked by what's left of the atlanteans (they bred themselves for better survival?) Hm, this idea seems to be growing, funny what you can get off a simple movie quote... Anyways, about half of the movie could take place in the submarine, and the other half could take place in the underwater-underground caves, ending in the ancient city. The options for the ending could be - destroy the city for make benefit to all mankind -save vampires somehow -other clishee endings You could weave in hollow-earth references (that have been bastardized across the milennia), and of course the style of the vampires would then be celtic, etc... Just an idea...

@Eric, now that I have seen Norwegian Ninja, I can agree that the underwater scenes there look pretty well :D Still I think it would require a higher budget than having a "castle" setting for example. Especially if the whole film were set in an underwater world, there'd have to be some kind of swimming at some point which would be difficult to execute. You guys have worked around that pretty cleverly ;D And about Mr. Vogler, yeah a literal "innermost cave" couldn't be a bad thing. Still I wonder about the length of his three acts. Seems it would have to be something like 20 mins / 60 mins / 10 mins... I think it's odd to call that a 3-act-structure, but probably I'm thinking to technically here ;P

Perhaps it's only one part of the story that's underwater. Taking a cue from the good ol' Hero's Journey: the sequence called "approaching the innermost cave" would be a good fit... :) http://changingminds.org/disciplines/storytelling/plots/vogler_structure.htm

Sounds good, and I don't even think making those bubbles would be too hard. Also, do vampires have to breathe anyway? Still, there are a few problems left... for example, more expensive costumes. This is again the same fact that kept us from doing a gigantic space opera... when you do PA stuff nobody can prove your costumes wrong, but in deep sea or space, if the stuff doesn't look life-supporting it's just sad. Not to mention that the glass visors will cause problems with the green screen ;D Anyways, I still think an underwater vampire story is great, and I will take a close look at those sequences when my Norwegian Ninja DVD arrives - hopefully in the next couple days :D
