Michael Bodalski gave a shot "Custom Linux OS Theme" for Archetype (tentative title)

Archetype (tentative title) > Style of film > Custom Linux OS Theme
I want to make it like a documentary, I need some advice, like what camera to use, what kind of lighting style, I also need some good soundFX, and places to get fake guns. I also need custom OS's, most likley built on Linux. Just a theme for it or something. It's for the world to use so that we don't get sued.

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think you need to worry about a custom theme. I'm sure you could even use Apple or Window products without worry, but if you stick to a GPL GUI, like GNOME it certainly isn't in the spirit to sue.

From some recent research, I know you should be looking for "Airsoft guns". A Google search will turn up hundreds of stores, and the prices are very reasonable depending on what style you are looking for. Stick to "spring" or "mechanical" as these seem to be the cheapest.

I had a link to a store north of Toronto that sold air soft guns, but the website wasn't very complete and I don't know how their prices compare to the online stores. If I can find the link, it might be possible to rent from them.

I've read that this place (http://www.vertexairsoft.com/) ships to Canada, but they don't list prices either.

Why don't you create a task for poster design and ask people to help you with that. Maybe you could use the zombie picture you posted earlier as a placeholder, anything is better than the No Picture Set.
Also, maybe you could create another task for coming up with a name for the movie unless you already have something in mind.

Archetype (tentative title) > Script > perspective-
by: Richard Caldwell

I think some of the comments are reaching to build this up more than necessary. I feel a selling point, as well as staying in keeping with perspective costs and running length, would be to keep the scope of the story small. There are plenty of zombie films out there already showing the bigger picture, the causes, the world falling apart, etc. Why not just focus on the young couple, maybe even having them be the ONLY characters in the pic? This would help give the story a human, more intimate touch. I bet viewers would be smart enough to fill in the rest of the picture themselves. (I also wonder if a theme to many of the larger zombie movies, whether from different production houses, creators, etc, is the trick of not giving away too many of the details of what's going on; which would make virtually all zombie films of the "shared world" concept. If we focus on a smaller tale, then this film too can, in the imagination, be an extended chapter for most any other zombie movie.)

I was having some simaler ideas about how to keep the over all cost on this very cheap. IT may be possable to have only a hand ful of actors and just a few scence loactions for a very convinceing and fill in the blank sort of effect for the veiwer. Been going over old stuff, and some new stuff to help foster a classic touch to an original peice.

We need a script. Please send us ideas. The basic plot is: I have decided to use Phillip Whitty's idea of a change of rules, and make this film more like a documentary, or a news broadcast. It could be like people watching TV, and the broadcast comes on and says that a zombie infection has started in maybe Mexico and they think it is a hoax and maybe they change the channel in the middle of it and we see that it's real because it is on a different station. Then they say it's spreading, until finally it reaches America. Then they see the army gets there and gets overwhelmed and the people panic and leave the house, and get killed. If you can, please make an animatic for action scenes, for this I recommend Celtx, this will make it easier to describe them.

What about this? In most zombie movies, the zombies attack and people flee, panic and eventually become infected. The army moves in, the whole thing turns FUBAR and everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

What if you changed the rules? Since this is set in the 80's and the Soviet Union is still around, why not have the whole world be used to zombie attacks? Zombies are spotted, the local city empties and the army and it's tech guys clean up the situation. This allows you to shoot mostly in the night without a need to explain why there are no people around.

Now here you have the cruise coming in and it doesn't know about the zombie attack. Maybe the ship was unscheduled, maybe the emergency beacon for zombie attack was destroyed. But anyways the people disembark and they don't know what's happening. The zombies show up and destroy the boat, the Soviet army turns up and kills the zombies, get mostly slaughtered in the ensuing battle but now they have to get the people out of the zone. The female lead could be the commander of the Soviet company. She gets close to our male lead and since he knows the city she relies on him to get them all out of there but HE gets infected. She eventually has to decide whether or not to put him down. Leave it up to you if the medical tech guys get to her and him in time with a cure.

What do you think?
