About a meateating-plant. You decide how the story will start and end. Is the plant cruel and evil or just misunderstood, lonely and friendless?

While I may not be the most skilled person writing stories from scratch, I like to think I can come up with somewhat intelligent remarks when having to read someone else's script and give feedback.

So if you have something in mind and feel you would like some feedback, feel free to drop me a note! 8)

Google Images offers loads of creepy carnivorous plants images to draw inspiration from...

So I think the first step may consist in narrowing down what kind of plant it should be. E.g. on with "teeth", "sticky bits", or "holes to fall in"?

A full list:

And some random examples that struck my imagination:

Another thing to ask yourself is... what kind of meat is this plant supposed to eat? If it is human beings it will be after, it will need to be pretty big...

If this is a semi-serious horror film then you'd need something more realistic, but if you're going for a Little Shop Of Horrors kind of comedy then something more cartoony would be better. You need to tell us more information about the film before people can help.

A militant, and marginally insane, botanist rescues a famous meat-eating plant from its cruel Hollywood handlers. She and the plant suddenly become superstar fugitives running from the law while the botanist races toward a verdant river delta where she can plant it in paradise, out of reach of cruel humanity.

But will her deepening love for this hungry -- and quickly growing -- carnivore make her do unspeakable things to keep it alive? Well, duh!

In WW2 so many people died everywhere. Plants grew and gain nutrients. They gain consciousness by sucking nutrients from the brains of the dead. After a few years they consider humans as threat so they become stealthily trying to eat humans since the brain and meat gives the plants more intelligence.

Several kind of dangerous plants:
- classic man eater plants
- thorne bush that spit thorns to nearby humans
- thorne bush that strike javelin like thorns to nearby humans
- Acid spitter plants
- Poison flower
- Brain controlling flower that stick into human backbone, purpose is to gain mobility but still not perfect controlling humans.

This particular subject is difficult to approach without rehashing what's already been done, i.g., Night of The Triffids, The Ruins, etc. However, if you are looking to make this feature unique, you might want to consider polyextremophiles and its worth reconsidering your definition of "eat" as well. Fungi and microorganisms regularly use humans as a food source, its not much of a leap to assume that during our explorations of various extreme environments we might be unfortunate enough to come across one which could prey on the living just as easily as the dead. If you are interested, message me and I would gladly flesh out some more detailed concepts for you.

Your new project immediately caught my eye, as it reminds me of a short story idea I've had brewing for quite a while, but haven't got around to actually putting down on paper.

Carnivorous plants are fascinating, but the real difficulty with this subject is avoiding the Triffids. That story was great, and has really sewed up many of the more obvious plot directions this kind of story lends itself to. Similarly, highly tensile vines, roots and creepers are a real cliche, and make little sense - these things usually crush or strangle people, but serve no purpose for the plant itself.

So my thoughts turned toward a different variety of carnivorous plant. There are several species that use lobster-pot and bladder traps, which coax insects into tubular leaves, trap them there (by various means) and then digest them.

My story idea involves an evolution of this type of plant, into something capable of luring, trapping, and digesting a human.

If you'd like to know more, just say so.
