Tenby > Initial ideas > Keep em' coming!
by: Tom Morgan

I already love Kris's idea of going the "media obsession" route but it would be great to hear suggestions from other people :) What I'm thinking is that anyone who is interested in creating something should just go ahead and make something!! If you need the MP3 just drop an email to tom@thefirsts.net and I'll happily send it If we have a few videos in the end I suppose we could just have a "poll" and pick the winner (the video we'll promote as "Official")? This would of course be a mutual collaboration, you can use our song if we can use your video kinda thing, and we can link to each other's Vimeo etc. when the final cut is ready :) Is this how it works in here?!

Well... it can be quite a big job actually doing an entire video without a budget. Wreckamovie usually works best if we decide specifically what we're doing first and then get it done. :)

Hi Tom, welcome to Wreckamovie! :) One thing that came to mind, are you sure you want the video to totally match the lyrcs? A lot of bands avoid that because it ties the song to the video too closely. The best songs are ones that make people use their imagination, but if you show them what's happening they won't imagine anything. Listening to the song, I think it would be a lot better if you don't actually tell the story, but have imagery which fits the feeling. (I'll have to listen to the song a bit more to come up with some specific ideas later...)

Tenby > Initial ideas > The media's obsession with scaring us
by: (null)

The main images I get in my head from this song are the media being obsessed with telling us about horrible crimes. Here's one possible video: Show someone going through their everyday routine (get up, eat, go to work, come home etc) and at each step of the way there would be some media report implying that whatever they're doing is dangerous. For example they'd eat some eggs for breakfast and on a TV in the background there would be a headline saying "Salmonella risk in eggs" etc. They'd get in their car and a newspaper on the back seat would have a headline about a traffic accident. This would continue throughout the video, it would be subtle but always there. This would all be done with a very dark sense of humour, very tongue-in-cheek, to contrast with the serious tone of the music.

Good! This should be fairly easy to do on a limited budget, just film whatever parts of the person's day you want. And the band could be easily integrated into the video on a television screen or poster.

Just testing the waters here. Never used this service before and don't really know how it works so I'm just throwing this out there :)

Hi! No, I just meant the lyrics should "inspire" the story :)
