SWELTER
“If you dance with the Devil… don’t complain about the heat.”
In the vein of the brutal heist drama Reservoir Dogs, the modern crime thriller Lock,
Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and the classic western High Plains Drifter, SWELTER
is the violent story of greed and retribution.
Six professionals all at the top of their game — and their game was crime. It was the
perfect heist that went terribly wrong, leaving one of them dead and sending four to
prison. Now after doing seven years hard time in the brutal Nevada prison system, the
four who didn’t get away are hot on the trail of the one that did — the one that got away
with two million dollars.
The trail leads them to a small town less than a hundred miles from the failed robbery:
Baker, California — a town choking to death on the dust and sweltering heat of the worst
drought in seven years. The town’s only claim to fame is the world’s largest
thermometer. And the mercury is rising.
What they find in Baker is their old partner with a new name, Gabriel Bishop, now a
pillar of the community and a well-respected family man. And Gabriel Bishop is the law
in Baker. Literally. The former mastermind of the Las Vegas heist is now the town
sheriff. A seemingly temperate man with no past and no memory of the dangerous man
he once was. And most importantly, no clue where he hid the two million dollars.
The four men take over the Baker, quietly holding the townspeople hostage until they can
“jar” the sheriff memory and claim their share of the cash. The town’s, bored to death
citizens of misfits become enamored by the charming criminals, treating them more like
rock stars than the dangerous killers they’ve become. Including the sheriff’s young
stepdaughter.
But as the temperature rises the sweltering heat of Baker becomes too much for the four.
Greed and suspicion escalate into an all out war as they turn on each other and turn the
town upside-down. . “This town will burn before we leave without that money.” With his
family caught in the crossfire Gabriel finds himself standing between the town and the
men with the match. But in the end he stands alone.
SWELTER… A tale of greed, deceit and heat.
